The Sims 4 is a quirky life simulation game where players can tell stories about the triumphs or failures their Sims experience. Sims can explore the worlds and communities around them to make friends and other connections, including romantic ones, if players choose to.
Sims can flirt, date, and get married if they feel like they've met the one for them. However, players may have second thoughts or want to cause chaos in their Sims lives by deciding they need to get divorced. Whatever the reason, here's how players can divorce their Sim's spouse and enjoy single life again in The Sims 4.
How to Get Divorced in The Sims 4
Players can have their Sims get married by performing romantic interactions with their partners until their relationship is high enough to propose. Of course, Sims can move in together after getting married, have kids, start a business, or do whatever they want with their spouse. While marriage is a big commitment, it is not permanent, and players can have their Sims get divorced whenever they want to.
Sims can get divorced for many reasons. Catching their partner having an affair or discovering they have incompatible traits can make it hard to mend the relationship. Sims can even start autonomously arguing with each other, which signifies it might be time to move on.
Just like marriage, Divorce is not an automatic option without using cheats. Sims can break up with their boyfriends and girlfriends without hurting the relationship by asking to be friends. Conversely, Divorce is a messier experience, and Sims will have to perform a negative interaction to trigger the option.
To divorce two Sims players will decrease their relationship bars. Having one Sim cheat on the other is the quickest way to do this, but continuously performing mean or angry interactions will also do the trick. Players will see Divorce under the "Mean" interaction menu.
Choosing the Divorce action will cause them to get divorced and gain Sad Moodlets immediately. If they have children that witness it, they will also become Sad. Players can then decide to have the Sims live in separate households or keep them under the same roof.
Living together right away is probably not the best idea as they will both have angry sentiments and get upset just by being in the same room. Of course, after getting Divorced, Sims can get back together with a bit of work and nurturing of their relationship or decide to cut their losses and move on.
The Sims 4 is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
