The Sims 4 Royalty and Legacy is all about prestigious dynasties and nobles. While some Sims are lucky enough to be born into nobility, others have to find other ways to join the court.
The Sims 4: Complete Royalty and Legacy Create-A-Sim (CAS) Showcase
The Royalty and Legacy expansion pack allows fans to create hundreds of new outfit combinations in The Sims 4 - here's a look at all the CAS items.
This type of lifestyle isn't for everyone, as it requires Sims to be active members in their world. However, it can be extremely rewarding and grants them unique powers. This guide will tell players what they need to know about being a noble in The Sims 4, including how to become one and how to climb up the career ladder to become the ultimate monarch.
How to Become a Noble in The Sims 4
Players can acquire noble titles by joining the Noble career, which requires them to partake in noble duties. Players who don't want to deal with that responsibility and would rather have a title in order to have power over the kingdom will have to find another way to become nobles.
How to Get a Noble Title Without Joining a Career
There are two ways to receive a noble title without joining the Noble Career. This means that players won't have mandatory noble duties, but they will also not receive a salary for working as a noble. However, they will also not have access to many of the kingdom ruling perks. Nevertheless, non-career nobles will still have access to some exclusive interactions, such as Discuss Noble Life (Friendly) and Lie about Royal Lineage (Mischief).
To become a noble without joining the career, a Sim's parent must become a noble, thus granting them a minor title, or they must marry a noble Sim, which grants them an equal title.
If a Sim is granted a noble title through another Sim, their title will depend on the other's, and they will always be at risk of losing it. For example, if a Sim marries a Duchess, they will become Duke. However, if the Duchess loses her title or her job, their title will suffer as well, demoting it or completely removing it. Additionally, if they get divorced, the title will also vanish.
The title won't completely disappear if the Sim promised another that they would inherit their title. However, if they didn't do that, they have 24 in-game hours after the career rank is lost to reclaim it. To claim a lost Noble Career title, a spouse or a child of the former noble who resides in the kingdom must join the Noble Career, select a throne, and then click on the "Claim Lost Career Rank" interaction.7
How to Join the Noble Career in The Sims 4
The Noble Career is an active career added to The Sims 4 with the Royalty and Legacy expansion pack. Not only does it grant Sims a noble title, but various noble duties with a matching paycheck.
Sims can join the Noble Career by interacting with a throne, requesting a career noble to bestow knighthood upon them, or interacting with The Duchess Diaries: A History of Nobility (non-fiction book) and selecting the "research noble legacy" option.

When Sims receive a noble title due to their parents' career, they will always be known as Lord, Lady, or Lordem. Except if their parent is a Rank 10 Noble; in this case, they will be known as Prince, Princess, or Princem. Nobles through marriage receive the same title as their spouse. Players can edit Kingdom Titles and create their own custom titles.
