Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for The Pitt season 1.
Summary
- Fans wondered about Dana's future after a harrowing incident on season 1 of The Pitt.
- Showrunner assures Dana's return in season 2 will focus on character development.
- Dana's potential PTSD from the attack is expected to be a central storyline in the upcoming season.
The Pitt instantly pulled viewers in when it premiered on Max in January 2025, and I was immediately a big fan of the strong yet vulnerable characters such as Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch (Noah Wyle). While I've enjoyed other medical dramas such as Grey's Anatomy, The Pitt's format (every episode takes place over an hour during a shift in the E.R.) Makes it special. I couldn't watch each new episode fast enough, and while some of the cases were tragic and tough to watch, I appreciate how rooted in reality each plotline is.
While I enjoyed watching Dr. Frank Langdon's (Patrick Ball) complicated storyline on The Pitt season 1, I'm thinking about how another character could appear in season 2. I hope they stick around.
The Rookie Season 7, Episode 13 Release Date and Time
The Rookie season 7 continues the exciting story of Nolan, Bailey, Lucy, Tim, and the rest of the team, and the next episode is coming up soon.
Is Dana Evans Leaving Before The Pitt Season 2? Why I Want Her To Stay
Dana Evans (Katherine LaNara) is my favorite The Pitt character, and I hated seeing her in such a rough place at the end of The Pitt season 1. After getting assaulted by angry patient Doug Driscoll (Drew Powell), Dana pretends that she's fine, but she's struggling with this traumatic incident. By the end of season 1, episode 15, "9:00 P.M.," Dana is considering quitting her job as charge nurse, and Robby is just one person who doesn't want that to happen.
As soon as fans tuned into the gripping finale, they wondered if Dana will leave the series. In an interview with TV Line about The Pitt season 2, Noah Wyle said something that will make fans feel much better:
"But, obviously, I can’t get rid of Katherine. Obviously, Dana is an important part."
Showrunner R. Scott Gemill explained that the second season's time jump will ensure Dana can come back. He said:
"if next season were to take place the next day or the next week, you wouldn’t see Dana. I think she needs to take some time off to really talk to her husband, talk about what she wants out of life…. I think when she comes back, she’s going to have a bit of an attitude adjustment, though. She’ll be even less tolerant of bulls—t. She’s going to be much more protective of her flock."
Since Dana is the heart and soul of the hospital, I can't imagine her leaving, and I think her departure would be a problem. Dana inspires everyone around her. Since she's kind, compassionate, and gives tough love, she's a go-to person when the other characters need advice and a listening ear. Without Dana, the characters would feel lost. They need a calm person to talk to when they're in the middle of a busy, stressful, and scary shift, which describes the shift depicted in The Pitt season 1.
The Pitt has such a huge fanbase, including Stephen King, because of the well-written characters like Dana who know exactly what to say and when to say it. Losing Dana would be terrible, and I think that Robby and Langdon would suffer most of all. They like knowing they can count on Dana's no-nonsense personality and clever yet brutally honest advice. I want to see how her advice and confident, strong personality motivates them to make changes in The Pitt season 2.
What Should Dana's The Pitt Season 2 Storyline Be?
I think that Dana's The Pitt season 2 storyline should put her in a situation where she addresses Doug Driscoll's attack. Maybe Dana talks to a patient in the hospital because someone hurt them. She could also bond with a doctor or other employee who was once attacked by a patient. This would help bridge the gap between seasons 1 and 2 and ensure that loose ends are being tied up.
Since each episode of The Pitt takes place in real time, like the Kiefer Sutherland TV series 24, there would be lots of opportunities to focus on Dana's potential PTSD. Based on Wyle's comment that Dana is "important," I'm confident that this beloved character will come back to the E.R., and I can't wait to see what happens.
