The New Straw Hat Designs And Character Sheets
Wit Studio Revealed Designs For Luffy And His Crewmates
Since the Straw Hats are the main protagonists of the series, it is hardly surprising that Wit Studio worked on creating character sheets for them. So far, Wit Studio has released character sheets for the following:
- Monkey D. Luffy: An energetic young man who is the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates. Luffy sets sail from Foosha Village to find the One Piece. Originally, he planned to conquer the world by himself, but he realized that would be impossible. So, he starts recruiting people, and the first target is a certain green-haired swordsman.
- Roronoa Zoro: A talented fighter who wants to become the strongest swordsman in the world. Zoro met Luffy in Shells Town. Zoro shows no interest in joining Luffy but changes his mind when the latter saves him from a certain death. The two travel to Orange Town, where they come across an orange-haired thief.
- Nami: Like Zoro, Nami had no intention of joining the crew but did so to save her own skin. Nami's skill as a navigator makes her indispensable for any person looking to conquer the Grandline.
- Usopp: Despite his cowardly nature, Usopp is a fun and interesting person to be around, which is why he hits it off so well with Luffy. The crew gets another big addition in this arc as they finally switch to a real ship.
- Sanji: He is the fifth and final person to join the Straw Hats in East Blue Saga. Sanji wants to find the All Blue, a dream considered ridiculous by most. After refusing to join the crew, he changes his mind after Zeff gives him the green light.
The character sheets released show all five characters with different expressions. It also shows their attire and hairstyle. It is quite apparent that Wit Studio did a fantastic job with the sheets, and fans will indubitably be excited at the prospect of getting to see the characters being brought to life.
Why Was The One Piece Remake Green-Lit?
The One Piece Remake Will Fix Certain Things
A question that has been on the minds of every fan is: why did the franchise announce another anime while the original was still ongoing? Many fans even considered it a waste of resources and disrespectful to Toei Animation. But some things needed to be fixed. George Wada, the studio president, stated that there were two main reasons behind the remake. The first was the pacing. One Piece manga has over 1000 thousand chapters, and the anime is in a similar ballpark. If a person with no knowledge were to take a look, they would conclude that the anime was adapting one chapter per episode, which is not bad. But when they see the early arcs, they would immediately notice how the episode felt too long. To eliminate the feeling, Wit Studio will try to improve the pacing. The episodes will feel precise, and it won't feel like a chore to sit through them.
The second thing that Wit Studio will be targeting is the format. The original One Piece started airing in 1999, and for that period, 4:3 was acceptable. However, it feels ancient when it is played today. Wit Studio will change the format, making it more suitable for modern audiences. By fixing these two issues, Wit Studio will help boost the popularity of One Piece even further. So, it was a great decision on Oda's part and everyone else who was involved in giving Wit Studio the green light to proceed with the remake.
Will The Project Be A Success?
The One Piece Remake Is Destined To Be A Hit
Many fans will want to know whether the One Piece remake will be a success story or if it will bomb massively. The short answer is yes, it will be a hit. Even without the remake, the One Piece anime was attracting the attention of fans who were willing to sit through hundreds of episodes.
If you don't take risks, you can't create a future. —Monkey D. Luffy
So, when Wit Studio launches the series and fixes the two problems, it doesn't make sense for the show to flop. One Piece fans will certainly offer their support to the project and hope that it will turn into a long-running anime just like the original. In fact, the staff involved with the project have hinted towards a lengthy run if it gets enough attention.
