The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered added a new game mode called No Return, which is essentially a roguelike survival mode. No Return throws players different maps with dangerous infected, and they'll need to complete various objectives to survive. The nature of said objectives depends on which mode you're playing in No Return. There are some basic modes to choose from, but there's also a custom mode where you set the rules. Let's take a look at each of them.
The Last Of Us Part 2 Remastered: When Do You Play As The Second Character?
There's a secondary protagonist in The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered with unique weapons and abilities, here's when you'll get to play as them.
All No Return Modes in The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered
Once players complete the main story and jump into the No Return mode in The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, they'll need to begin a new run from the menu. After loading in, you'll see a bulletin board with some photos hanging on it. Interacting with the board will allow you to choose different scenarios and encounter types in No Return.
There are a total of four modes/encounter types in No Return that players can gradually unlock as they complete more runs. Here's a brief explanation of all of these modes.
- Assault: It's the first mode that will be available when you first boot up the No Return mode in TLOU2. You'll be encountering waves of enemies that will keep spawning at short intervals in the middle. These intervals should be used to take a breather and restock resources.
- Hunted: Hunted is also available alongside Assault, which requires players to survive waves of enemies before the time runs out.
- Holdout: Players will unlock the Holdout mode after completing five runs. You'll have an ally in this mode that you'll need to protect from getting killed while watching your own back. Set up the defense with the available supplies and survive the horde of infected.
- Capture: The Capture mode unlocks after a player has completed seven runs in No Return. This mode puts a safe on the map that's guarded by enemies. Players will have to rely on stealth to reach said safes and unlock them before the timer runs out.
Once players make it to the end of their run, they'll need to face a boss encounter. There are multiple bosses available in No Return that gradually unlock as players progress through The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered.
