- Known as the Paramount Theater in real life, the location played a large role in the PlayStation title.
Seeking to capture the inspiration for a memorable location in The Last of Us Part 2, one fan traveled to the real-world Pinnacle Theater to snap a series of photographs. Few dystopian video game franchises can give us a glimpse as to what our real world would look like in an apocalypse quite like The Last of Us Part 2.
Filled with unspeakable horrors and heartbreak, The Last of Us Part 2 tells the tale of not only what it's like to survive among those infected by the Cordyceps virus, but also the levels humans can reach in the name of revenge. Although the narrative of The Last of Us is thankfully a work of fiction, there are a number of locations from the game that players can visit in real life.
Story-Heavy Games To Play If You Like The Last Of Us Part 2
Naughty Dog's The Last Of Us Part 2 is one of the most story-heavy games around, and these other games will scratch a similar itch.
In a post on Reddit, one Last of Us Part 2 fan detailed their visit to the game's real-life Pinnacle Theater to showcase how well the game captured the space. The user posted real-life images of their visit to the auditorium in Downtown Seattle to display how the Paramount Theater, as it is known in reality, looks nearly identical to how it appears in the game. In one of the images, the poster has taken a picture of the theater's staircase that looks almost identical to the steps where The Last of Us Part 2's Abby Anderson crept down to confront Tommy. There's also a picture of a room in the theater that looks exactly like the projector room from the game, in which Ellie gets the building's power to come back on.
Last of Us 2 Fan Captures the Game’s Real-Life Theater
Probably the most visually striking similarity from the user's photographs is the stage and seating area of the theater. Players can visualize Ellie playing the guitar as she sits in one of its many empty seats, or imagine the Abby and Ellie chase scene as the pair run down the aisle toward the stage. Although The Last of Us Part 2 is far from the first game to replicate real-life cities and environments, it's safe to say that Naughty Dog did a stellar job including real locations within The Last of Us 2's world.
The unprecedented success of The Last of Us' TV adaptation has ensured that the franchise will continue, especially with the upcoming Season 2. Recently, Neil Druckmann gave an intriguing The Last of Us 3 update in which he stated that he believes he has finally constructed a story outline that is a worthy follow-up to the second game.
