Spoilers ahead for The Last of Us Part 2!
The Last of Us Part 2 easily breaks hearts and fuels the rage that players feel alongside Ellie as they bask in a bloodied journey of revenge against Abby and her crew. Abby and her friends may have their own reasoning for what they did, and as justified as they see it, to the player, it’s hard to agree with them considering their own attachments to Joel and Ellie as characters.
The Last Of Us: 29 Best Joel Quotes
Joel will be a supporting character in The Last Of Us 2, but he's had a lasting impact from the first game with these amazing quotes.
As such, it might be quite nice to know what exactly happens to each of Abby’s friends, including Abby herself, so that those who enjoy The Last of Us can find closure within the fates that await these complex characters in a world all about surviving.
8 Abby Anderson
Enslaved by Rattlers but Escapes with Lev to Find the Fireflies
Abby Anderson is the most complex character in The Last of Us Part 2, and it’s challenging for audiences to like her when they first meet her considering her sole objective is to find and kill Joel Miller, the man who murdered her father, the doctor who tried to create a cure by using Ellie. As a remnant of the Fireflies, Abby is longing to belong, but she soon experiences the consequences of her actions as Ellie hunts down and kills her friends, all while she’s had her life tipped upside down due to her caring and protection of Lev, a young boy who escaped the WLF’s enemies, the Seraphites.
Abby moves on from Seattle and, with Lev, tries to locate remnants of the Fireflies. However, Abby and Lev are captured in Santa Barbara by the Rattlers, forced into labor camps. Ellie’s pursuit of Abby doesn’t end, and she ends up freeing Abby from the Rattlers, just to try and fight her to the death. While their fight could have ended with Abby dead due to her weakened state, Ellie spares her and lets her and Lev flee on a boat, where it’s implied that they managed to find the remaining Fireflies.
7 Jordan
Killed by Ellie After Having His Throat Slashed
There isn’t much known about Jordan, other than the fact that he’s part of the WLF and is one of Abby’s close friends who helped her find Jackson and seek revenge on the man who murdered her father. However, things go from bad to worse with Jordan after returning to Seattle, where he’s one of Ellie’s first victims on her revenge odyssey.
Jordan managed to capture Ellie and wanted answers from her, scared that she and the others from Jackson were on their way to Seattle to kill them. However, Jordan’s hesitance to kill Ellie in that moment would lead to his death, as he was flanked by Dina, giving Ellie an opportunity to free herself and stab Jordan in the neck to kill him.
6 Leah
Murdered by the Seraphites
Leah is another of the WLF members and friends of Abby’s who travelled to kill Joel Miller, but when she returned to Seattle, she was assigned by the WLF leader to keep guard at the local TV station for two weeks. While the WLF guarded this location, it wasn’t long until they highly skilled and ruthless enemies of the WLF, the Seraphites, also known as the Scars, would attack the TV station.

Ellie never got her revenge against Leah, because by the time she managed to reach the TV station, Leah’s body could be found covered in arrows from the Seraphites who got to her before Ellie or Tommy could.
5 Manny Alvarez
Shot in the Head by Tommy Miller
One of Abby’s best friends was Manny. Manny was a flirtatious gentleman who always knew how to woo the ladies, but in the end, his final woo was death. Manny was a lieutenant in the WLF, and someone Abby trusted wholeheartedly, which is why he was so passionately hateful of Joel Miller when the crew finally found him. However, Manny made the mistake with the others of keeping Ellie and Tommy alive.
When Manny returned to Seattle, he was sent on a mission against the Seraphites, but a sniper would disrupt the flow of things and force Abby and Manny to team up to try and get the combatant who was killing the WLF. It turns out that the sniper they were fighting against was actually Tommy Miller, and a failed ambush would see Manny shot in the head by Tommy’s sniper, killing him instantly.
4 Mel
Stabbed to Death by Ellie, Ending Her and Her Unborn Child’s Lives
Mel was an avid member of the Fireflies who believed in helping people, which is why what they did to Joel Miller might have been justified, but still haunted him. As a result, Mel’s return to the WLF, and her pregnancy with Owen’s child, left her concerned for safety and the future of her growing family, which is why she and Owen tried to leave for the Seattle Aquarium, where they would elope from all this violence and feuds.
However, Ellie found Mel before the two could leave. Believing that Ellie would kill them when they gave her Abby’s location, Owen tried to fight Ellie, and to protect Owen, Mel tried to stab Ellie, which resulted in Ellie using the knife on Mel. Mel would bleed out from her wounds, where both she and her unborn child would remain at the Aquarium.
3 Nick
Tortured and Killed by Tommy Miller
After being one member of the group that killed Joel Miller, Nick returned to Seattle with a WLF assignment to defend the Serevena Hotel, but his assignment was cut short after a vengeful brother carved his way through infected and WLF. Tommy Miller’s trip to Seattle was a bloody one, and he would get to Nick before the Seraphites, infected, or Ellie could.
Most Unlikeable Horror Game Protagonists
Despite being the protagonists of these games, these characters are widely disliked for one reason or another.
Ellie and Dina find Nick’s body, and the handiwork is obviously done by Tommy, since this man was tied to a chair and forced to give up the location of his allies in a technique that Ellie had heard of before from Joel Miller, showcasing the brotherly bond between Tommy and Joel and Tommy’s heartless quest for revenge.
2 Nora Harris
A Medical Officer, Infected with Spores, Then Beaten to Death by Ellie
Nora Harris has strong ties to Abby, as her mentor was Abby’s father, Jerry Anderson. Training under the Fireflies’ best surgeon showed that Nora had a promising career, before Joel Miller murdered the man and many of the remaining Fireflies, thus leaving Nora on a bitter quest for revenge alongside Abby. Yet, after their mission was complete, Nora returned to normal life with the WLF as a medical officer at the Lakehill Seattle Hospital.
Ellie managed to infiltrate the hospital and find Nora, and the confrontation between the two led to a chase through the spore-infested underground of the hospital. Without a gas mask, Nora was as good as dead, but that didn’t stop Ellie from beating her to death with a lead pipe in order to extract information from her about Abby’s location.
1 Owen Moore
Abby’s First Love, Killed by Ellie
Abby and Owen are perhaps the closest of the Salt Lake Crew, and considering Owen grew up alongside Abby, it’s clear that he wants revenge for her as much as she does, which is why he’s all-in when it comes to killing Joel Miller. However, Owen experiences some level of heart when he finds out his girlfriend, Mel, is pregnant, and he decides to leave Seattle behind for a better life where the Fireflies could possibly be located in Santa Barbara.
Yet, when Ellie finds Owen and Mel at the Aquarium, Owen wrestles her for the gun she holds to try and protect both Abby and Mel, but Owen is shot in the chest. The last thing Owen sees before he dies is the murder of Mel and their unborn child at the hands of Ellie.
