The Last of Us Part 1: All Optional Conversations

The Last of Us Part 1 is a game that excels in its quieter moments, away from the bloody and bombastic action, spending time with its carefully crafted characters. It's across the game's story, in these quieter moments, that the player can find a variety of optional conversations to engage with to prompt dialogue between Joel and his companions. These optional extras act as a little narrative legwork when it comes to learning about the characters of The Last of Us Part 1, providing a window into their perspective and supporting the main narrative as players watch them grow and change as they go through the story.

Chapter five of The Last of Us Part 1 begins as Joel, Ellie, and their new allies, Henry and Sam, wash up on a beach downriver from the nightmarish city of Pittsburgh. After a tense confrontation, the group agrees to stick together as they navigate their way through the sewers and into the suburbs, towards a rendezvous at the city limits. Heading through the Infected-infested tunnels, the player must make use of every tool available to them to survive the onslaught of Runners, Stalkers, and Clickers thrown at them in the once peaceful subterranean community,

Upon escaping tunnels and entering the suburbs, players are given a chance to explore and find some optional conversations before they are thrust back into the action. This guide will show players where to find all three optional conversations available in The Suburbs chapter of The Last of Us Part 1 to assist in unlocking the "Getting to Know You" trophy.

The Suburbs | Suburbs

Conversation 1 of 3

All optional conversations in the chapter appear late into the chapter after the group has escaped the sewers and entered the suburbs. Journey down the street and look at the house on the corner with the graffiti “Will shoot on sight” written on it. Talk to Henry about it when he catches up.

Conversation 2 of 3

Walking further down the road, Ellie and Sam will spot an ice cream truck in the middle of the street. Approach Ellie to talk about it.

Conversation 3 of 3

In the final house that Joel can come across near the dead-end street, search around and find The Suburbs safe. After thoroughly looting the place, go back to the ground floor and enter the front room where Ellie and Sam will be playing darts. When they finish, approach the stool and get Joel to throw one.
