As promised, Naughty Dog and Sony have released a brand new trailer for The Last of Us 2 ahead of the game's June 19 release date. The new Last of Us 2 trailer focuses on the game's story, and spends some time highlighting the relationship between Ellie and Joel.

The new Last of Us 2 story trailer keeps with the tone of the game's other trailers in that it stays pretty vague. All players can really gleam from it is that Ellie is on a quest for revenge. It does a good job of highlighting The Last of Us 2's graphical prowess, showing off incredibly impressive animations and an extremely high level of visual detail that fans have come to expect from Naughty Dog and its games.

Notably, Sony has turned off both comments and the like/dislike buttons for The Last of Us 2 trailer on YouTube. This is likely due to the massive Last of Us 2 leak that spoiled some of the game's major plot points (none of which will be mentioned in this article). Since the big Last of Us  leak, trolls have been spreading Last of Us 2  story spoilers everywhere, but by disabling the comment section, Sony is at least able to keep people from getting spoilers by watching the new trailer. Meanwhile, some disgruntled fans unhappy with how The Last of Us 2 story plays out have turned on both Naughty Dog and the game itself, which is likely the reason why Sony disabled the like/dislike buttons.

It's unfortunate that The Last of Us 2 story spoilers leaked online, but the game should still be a high quality experience for players. The Last of Us 2 game director Neil Druckmann has promised that "nothing compares" to actually playing The Last of Us 2 from start to finish, and it will be interesting to see if the game is able to live up to hype.

In the meantime, one has to imagine that Sony and Naughty Dog will be taking measures so that devastating leaks like this don't happen in the future. There were rumors that The Last of Us 2 leaks happened due to upset Naughty Dog employees leaking the footage online as a sort of protest, but it's now come about that hackers are responsible for the Last of Us 2  leaks.

Regardless, The Last of Us 2 release date is right around the corner, and spoilers or no, fans of the franchise should still have a lot to look forward to.

The Last of Us 2 launches on June 19, exclusively for the PS4.
