A gamer has noticed a fatal flaw in one of the melee weapons in The Last of Us Part 2 that can't be unseen. Melee combat is a key element of The Last of Us Part 2, but it seems as though there's one thing about it that doesn't quite make total sense.
It's been interesting to watch the resurgence of The Last of Us lately. Driven by the success of The Last of Us TV adaptation on HBO, gamers both casual and hardcore have flocked back to experience Joel and Ellie's story one more time. Some are even playing it for the first time, with the release of the original game on PC. It hasn't been smooth sailing in this regard, with Naughty Dog's port continuing to experience massive performance issues on the platform. Updates are on the way though, and hopefully it's only a matter of time before The Last of Us on PC is the best way to play the classic game.
The post by Bell564 raises another issue, this time with the sequel, noticing that the baseball bat in-game has a pair of scissors through it. More than anything, it's the logistics of managing to achieve it that has left the player confused. Most in the thread chose to make jokes, with one player claiming it was achieved by "SHEAR willpower." It's a pun as brilliant as it is terrible. Another user had a serious answer to this particular Last of Us 2 conundrum, claiming that Joel has tools in his backpack as shown in the remake of The Last of Us Part 1. This is certainly a partial explanation, but it doesn't justify how the scissors don't snap.
This is just one of the many interesting questions posed by The Last of Us Part 2. While some of those questions are deep-cut story debates, others are simply mundane queries, such as how some scissors were embedded into a baseball bat. For this particular issue, it's likely players will never know for sure.
There has never been a more exciting time to be a fan of The Last of Us. Its success in the mainstream is likely to mean a lot more content to come, which in the right hands can only be a good thing. The Last of Us Season 2 is set to begin filming soon, and it will be interesting to see how it handles the story of The Last of Us Part 2 which was certainly more divisive than the original. News on The Last of Us Part 3 is unfortunately quiet and has been for some time, but gamers will be praying that the franchise's recent success encourages some movement there.
The Last of Us Part 2 is available now on PS4.
