The project was announced in 2025, but a release date wasn't shared. But now that has changed, and fans know exactly when the new The Ghost in the Shell anime will premiere.
Most anime fans are already familiar with Motoko Kusanagi and the Ghost in the Shell franchise. It is a cyberpunk action thriller that has been releasing new projects since 1989, the first of which was the manga for Ghost in the Shell, and it was followed by multiple movies, video games, and television series. Over time, the franchise accrued a massive and dedicated fan base, helping it to become one of the most iconic names within the entertainment industry.
The Ghost In The Shell Anime Could Be A Big Hit
Naturally, the upcoming The Ghost in the Shell anime will be hoping to build on the success. To achieve the goal, the anime will have to be of the highest quality and without any glaring flaws. Science Saru continues to work on Dandadan Season 3 and Ghost in the Shell, but there is one more project that the studio is focusing on, and it's Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia. The anime is based on the manga of the same name, and it will also premiere in July 2026.
From the visuals and the trailer, it seems quite possible that Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia could end up becoming the most surprising title of 2026, just like Takopi's Original Sin did in 2025. Since the anime's release is still a few months away, Science Saru will probably release more trailers and visuals.
