Archetype Entertainment has just confirmed that its Sci-Fi RPG Exodus will be appearing at The Game Awards 2025, making it the first officially announced world premiere of the upcoming event. Scheduled to begin at 7:30pm ET on December 11, T he Game Awards 2025 is set to be another big night for the gaming industry, with plenty of reveals and new looks at highly-anticipated titles presumably waiting in the wings.

Founded in April 2019, Archetype Entertainment is a Texas-based studio formed by ex-BioWare developers James Ohlen, Chad Robertson, and Drew Karpyshyn, whose previous shared credentials include the original Baldur's Gate, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and Mass Effect. During the 2023 Game Awards, Archetype Entertainment (a studio under the Wizards of the Coast publishing label) announced Exodus, a Sci-Fi RPG starring Matthew McConaughey.

Exodus Will Be At The Game Awards 2025

On November 25, 2025, the Exodus X account posted a short 15-second teaser that confirmed a new trailer for the game will be premiering at The Game Awards on December 11. Though this upcoming trailer will likely be the first time many gamers have seen Exodus in action since its 2023 reveal, the series has actually had a rather busy few years.

Following its debut, Exodus released the "Exodus Traveler's Handbook" to those who signed up for the game's mailing list. This handbook was used as the basis of an 'actual play' called Star Heist: An Exodus Story, which became a six-part TTRPG show that was uploaded to the Exodus YouTube channel. Along with Star Heist, the Exodus YouTube channel is filled with creature reveals, founder Q&As, and a few gameplay deep-dives, all of which have been uploaded in the 23 months following its initial reveal.

The universe of Exodus has also been expanded via two other forms of media. Exodus: The Archimedes Engine, a novel written by Peter F. Hamilton, was released in September 2024. The novel's story acts as a prequel to the game in which humanity's evolutionary journey to become a transhuman species is detailed. A sequel novel is planned for release in June 2026. Exodus' universe was also the subject of the 11th episode of Amazon's Secret Level show, which explored the series' time dilation mechanics.

Archetype Entertainment hasn't confirmed exactly what it'll be showing at The Game Awards, but given the amount of content on the Exodus YouTube channel and how far the game seems to have come in the last two years, it seems likely fans will get to see gameplay at the very least. It should also be noted that a February 2025 earnings report from Hasbro (Wizards of the Coast's parent company) claimed that Exodus is slated for a 2026 release, although that hasn't been confirmed by the developers yet. It's possible that Exodus will be given an official release window at The Game Awards 2025, though that's purely speculation at this point.

Given the pedigree behind the studio, there's already quite a bit of excitement behind Exodus, but a strong showing at the 2025 Game Awards could cement it as one of the most anticipated upcoming games. Standing out from the crowd at The Game Awards is much easier said than done, however. While Naughty Dog's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is rumored to be avoiding this year's Game Awards, there could still be plenty of announcements that take attention away from Exodus, regardless of how impressive its new trailer ends up being. For instance, though it's extremely unlikely to actually appear, the tenuously-rumored Half-Life 3 would probably be the sole talking point of the entire gaming industry for weeks if it was announced at the 2025 Game Awards.
