There are lots of animals that inhabit the island in The Forest, most of which can be hunted for food and other resources. While some animals are not hostile, others will attack the player. The boar is one of those animals that will attack the player should they get too close. While boars are territorial, they are also somewhat cowardly and usually prefer to run and hide from the player, especially when injured.

The Forest is an amazing survival-horror game that has a lot of options for great base builds, but choosing the right location is important.
Hunting these animals can be a little tricky, but there are some places that players can go to take down a few of these beasts. This guide will cover how to find boars and what to do with them in The Forest.
Where To Find Boars
Outside of console commands, you'll only find boars on the northern half of the island. If you haven't got the compass, then navigating the island can be tricky. If you are looking for boars, and you don't have a way to know which way you are facing, follow the river towards the mountain region. The mountain region is quite tough to survive in due to the cold weather. However, boars can and will roam along the border of this biome, making hunting them a little easier.
For the most part, you can expect to find boars in small groups. This is great for getting extra resources. That said, these animals spook easily, so try to go in stealthily, preferably with a bow. Boars can be killed pretty easily, a couple of well-placed shots with a bow or strikes with an upgraded spear are usually enough to take down a boar.
The Benefits Of Killing Boars
Once you've killed a boar, you can harvest it for some useful items. If you interact with it once, then you'll take its skin. Boar skin is required to make some of the game's more useful items, such as storage bags and an armor type:
- Warmsuits
- Rock Bags
- Spear Bags
If you interact with the boar's corpse a second time, then you'll get two pieces of meat. This meat can be cooked or dried and then consumed to satisfy the player's hunger. The final thing that can be taken from a boar's body is its head. This somewhat grim feature allows players to take the heads of animals and use them to make a display at their base. Animal heads are cool decorative pieces that can be used to spice up the player's base. That said, they don't really serve much of a purpose.
Players who enjoy collecting every type of trophy will want to display the heads of every animal in the game as it completes the 'Kill All Animal Types and Display Heads' achievement.
