The Flash director Andy Muschietti was rumored to be a potential director for the DCU's Batman movie, The Brave and the Bold. When recently asked about his thoughts on James Gunn's Batman movie, Muschietti had a surprisingly coy response.

When Gunn announced his initial slate for the DC Universe, a Batman film titled The Brave and Bold was included in the line-up. The project will center on Bruce Wayne and his son, Damian Wayne, the fifth Robin in the comics and the child Batman never knew he had with Talia al Ghul. The Brave and the Bold will introduce the DCU's Batman, separate from Matt Reeves' The Batman trilogy.

Muschietti has been rumored to direct the DCU's Batman movie since at least April 2022, but there has been no official word on who will helm The Brave and the Bold. During an interview with Narcity Canada's Josh K. Elliott at The Flash's Canadian premiere, Muschietti was asked what direction he would take his version of Batman for The Brave and the Bold after working with Ben Affleck and Micheal Keaton's Caped Crusader. Muschietti's eyes visibly widened after being asked the question, to which he replied, "Oh, that's, uh... I don't think I can talk to that, yet."

While Muschietti's response is hardly confirmation that he is directing The Brave and the Bold, the fact that he said he couldn't talk about the DCU's Batman movie "yet" might suggest he will be able to later. Regardless of the intention behind Muschietti's response, most people would argue he is the perfect choice for the project. The Flash features Affleck's Batman and Keaton's Caped Crusader, meaning Muschietti already has experience with the character. However, working with two past versions of Batman arguably gives Muschietti unique insight into how to approach the character differently.

Of course, Muschietti's involvement with Gunn's DC universe might depend on how The Flash performs. Early tracking suggests The Flash is heading for a weak box office debut, but if the early reviews for the film are accurate, positive word of mouth could benefit the Scarlet Speedster's first live-action solo feature.

On the other hand, Muschietti already proved himself to Warner Bros. With his remakes of Stephen King's IT. So, perhaps Gunn and Warner Bros. Have confidence in Muschietti regardless of The Flash's financial prospects. Fans must wait to see who will direct The Brave and the Bold, but Muschietti is undoubtedly a good choice.
