Nexon released Update 1.1.1 for The First Descendant, a major hotfix that addresses numerous concerns raised by the community while also fixing other issues as well. Season 1 for The First Descendant recently launched, adding a wealth of new content for the popular free to play shooter including a new character to unlock. However, it seems many parts of this update have left fans frustrated, something which Nexon is very sensitive about.
One of the bigger pieces in this first part of the seasonal update is a new character for The First Descendant fans to unlock. Unlike other characters, the cryo sniper Hailey can be acquired by farming resources dropped while playing Inversion Dungeons. However, fans noted a few issues with this system, namely that the drop rates for these items felt extremely low, with some players not seeing any drop in a single run. On top of that, these new dungeons introduced mechanics and difficulty spikes that left many feeling like these missions just weren't worth the trouble. As plenty of fan feedback rolled in, Nexon quickly announced changes it was working on, finally releasing a massive hotfix to address these player concerns.
While Nexon buffed Hailey material drop rates in The First Descendant, it saved the majority of the planned changes for Hotfix 1.1.1, which has finally launched. First, Nexon adjusted and improved the gameplay mechanics found within Inversion Dungeons, which many players found confusing and overly punishing. To this end, Arche Pillars in the Order of Truth Dungeon now clearly display the symbols, lowered the possible numbers on display, and will no longer regrow tumors once they're cleared. For the Legion of Immortality Dungeon, the time limit has been increased, and no longer requires as many Artificial Brains. Finally, the Legion of Darkness Dungeon has had the Arche Tiles repositioned so they're easier to see, reduced the capture time, and reduced the spawn rates of certain enemies, with the Suicide Bomber being removed entirely.
Nexon has also made sweeping adjustments across all Invasions Dungeons, lowering the frequency of enemies using Immunity, and adjusting enemy abilities and behaviors. The First Descendant's new Inversion Reinforcement progression system has also seen improved skill effects, with many getting a big percentage boost to be more noticeable for the player.
Even with more content on the horizon with The First Descendant Season 1's second update in October, Nexon has outlined additional update plans for the near future. As part of the hotfix notes, game director Minseok Joo revealed that the team is planning to add matchmaking to Invasions Dungeons, which launched as solo activities. In addition, Nexon is hoping players continue to farm Infiltration Operations and is preparing to adjust some trap-filled sections to provide a better overall experience. Finally, it was confirmed that Nexon will be adding higher difficulty options to Infiltration Operations with the October 10 update.
