Fixing The First Descendant DirectX 12 Error

The First Descendant DirectX 12 error is a common issue that can be solved by considering the following tips:

  • Since The First Descendant is an Unreal Engine 5 title, it requires the latest Agility SDK. This is a recurring theme with all Unreal Engine 5 titles, meaning you must update your Windows to support the latest DirectX 12 Agility SDK. Your Windows version must be at least 20H2 for the game to work. To update Windows, head over to the Start menu > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
  • While DirectX12 should be installed by default after updating your OS, if you still encounter the error, you should check whether it is installed in the first place.
