Summary

  • Nexon quickly addressed player feedback by buffing item drop rates to unlock Hailey in The First Descendant.
  • While the items are limited to Invasion Dungeons, many players were seeing little to no resource drops following the Season 1 launch.
  • Additional updates are planned to address many of the current difficulties and complaints following Season 1.

The First Descendant gets a quick hotfix following the release of Season 1, responding to fan feedback about how difficult it is to actually unlock the new character, Hailey Scott. Following its launch back in July, Nexon has continued to keep The First Descendant updated and constantly evolving between various patches as well as content additions. In fact, Season 1 just launched, giving players a whole new set of activities to play and things to unlock.

Nexon has also placed a major emphasis on listening to players and their feedback, consistently tweaking parts of The First Descendant that may not function or work quite as well as people want. In fact, the developer has already established a track record of quickly tweaking parts of the game to make farming for items easier, but also adding in quality of life changes to improve the experience overall. Following the launch of Season 1, Nexon has again released another hotfix, addressing a major concern that many players have voiced regarding the newest playable character, Hailey Scott.

The First Descendant Reveals Inversion Reinforcement Progression System

With Season 1 on the horizon, The First Descendant reveals a new progression system that grants players new bonuses and passive power.

Season 1 of The First Descendant added a wealth of content to the game like a new progression system, Invasion Dungeons, as well as a new Battle Pass, though for many players, the highlight is likely the new Cryo Sniper character. The playable Descendant known as Hailey isn't unlocked through opening Amorphous Materials or researching items like the other characters, as players will need to farm resources exclusively through Invasion Dungeons. However, many have been frustrated by this unlocking process as the Inversion Dungeons as well as drop rates are fairly restrictive, with many players not getting a single item after finishing these missions.

It didn't take long for Nexon to respond to the feedback, as the company quickly rolled out a hotfix to address these concerns. While additional changes and improvements are on the way, ones that will address the difficulty of the Invasion Dungeon and Inversion Reinforcement mechanics, the big tweak in this hotfix is that the drop rate to earn materials to unlock Hailey in The First Descendant has now been buffed. This includes all of her research materials like Enhanced Cells, DNA, Stabilizer, Spiral Catalyst, and Data Chip, which should see them drop far more often after Infiltration Operations.

While many in the community are thankful for how quickly Nexon responds and addresses issues within the game, such as completely changing The First Descendant's release schedule for Season 1, there are some questions regarding how issues like this continue cropping up. A pattern has been established where something is announced or released, fans complain, and then Nexon quickly adjusts the problem throughout each of the past few releases. This process has left many wondering why these issues can't be sorted out before being launched.
