Today marks the end of an era for The First Descendant, as Nexon is ending support for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game. This important move was announced in March 2025, and unfortunately for The First Descendant players on those platforms, that day has finally come.

As previously announced by Nexon, today, June 19, The First Descendant will no longer have support on PS4 and Xbox One. This news was first shared during a livestream back in March 2025, where the developer explained the reasoning behind the decision. Nexon noted difficulties maintaining the PS4 and Xbox One builds and said the older hardware simply couldn’t keep up with the demands of new content. While this may be disappointing for PS4 and Xbox One owners, players can carry over their account information to other platforms.

The First Descendant Ends PS4 and Xbox One Support Today

Another reason Nexon cited for this change is its desire to continue delivering better experiences to the game, like The First Descendant Season 3, which is designed to bring an “overhaul” of the game. This way, the developer can focus entirely on improving the experience on newer platforms instead of struggling to make it work on older ones. The Season 3 update will launch this summer on August 7 and will also include a collaboration with the popular JRPG NieR: Automata.

The crossover will feature outfits from NieR: Automata characters such as A2 and 2B. Moreover, Nexon revealed that the game’s Battle Pass will include a Common skin as part of the upcoming Season 3 update. While today may be a sad day for PS4 and Xbox One players, it also marks another big step forward for Nexon as it continues shaping the multiplayer experience of The First Descendant.
