Summary

  • Merchants offer diverse items & quests in Khazan, with unique sets available for each, increasing convenience for players.
  • Essential consumables like Willpower Orbs and Cleanses provide valuable effects at a reasonable cost for challenging fights.
  • Legendary Jars from Danjin offer powerful armor bonuses including decreased set item requirements, a game-changer for players.

The merchants in Khazan are similar to those found in games like Elden Ring, where the player traverses the world and encounters each one along their journey, offering a unique set of items and even providing some additional quests. Khazan simplifies the process significantly, as once a merchant has been met, they are usually transported to the crevice, which makes buying those helpful consumables or more expensive items just a bit easier and more convenient.

The First Berserker: Khazan - Every Weapon Type, Ranked

There are three weapon types available in The First Berserker: Khazan for players to make use of. Here is how they compare to one another.

Like any shopkeeper, there will be some items on sale that provide insane value at any point in time, some that are situationally powerful, and others that are virtually useless or serve no purpose for the player. That is certainly the case here, as the Bard, Duimik, and Danjin each sell their own distinct set of items that vary in usefulness, so the player will want to make a note of the best items each one has to offer and spend their well-earned gold wisely.

Willpower Orbs

Extra Healing Is Always Handy

The first berserker khazan merchant item
  • Cost: 1500 Gold
  • Effect: Consumes 3 spirit gauge units and restores health by 50% of max health.
  • Merchant: Bard, once he has been found at Rephalan Mountains
  • Craftable: No

Health is incredibly valuable throughout the game, a resource that needs to be managed carefully when adventuring into new areas and particularly when taking on the tougher enemies and bosses later on. Having a few of these around lets the player significantly boost their total health pool for a challenging fight at a pretty low cost and a requirement that takes just a few moments to get.

The Bard is an interesting character, and his location does change throughout the game, so once players reach the Rephalan Mountains, trading for some Willpower Orbs is a must, as they provide so much extra sustain and, though they may be finite, can single-handedly win a player a fight purely through a war of attrition.

Cleanses

No More Ticking To Death

The first berserker khazan merchant item
  • Cost: 3000 Gold
  • Effect: Removes negative status effects
  • Merchant: Bard
  • Craftable: Yes

Status effects are extremely devastating in Khazan, whether it's poison from a spider or fire from a crossbow; once the damage starts ticking, it causes some serious punishment. There is a large number of status effects and debuffs that can affect the player, and a handful of them can be removed through the use of the corresponding consumable.

8 Beginner Tips & Tricks For The First Berserker: Khazan

The hardcore action game The First Berserker: Khazan can be daunting for newcomers, but these tips should help them get started on the right foot.

While there are crafting recipes and ingredients that allow the player to create them themselves, sometimes it is far more useful to just grab some on the fly when taking on a boss with a specific debuff like Aratra. Not universally helpful, but situationally, they really do make the difference.

Undead Hunter's Lantern

May The Dead Never Rise Again

The first berserker khazan merchant item
  • Cost: 100,000 Gold, upon finding 6 Jarlings
  • Effect: Illuminates its surroundings and prevents nearby undead from reviving.
  • Merchant: Danjin
  • Craftable: No

Undead enemies are not a new concept for a Soulslike; take the skeletons found in the original Dark Souls, who caused unimaginable pain for players who stumbled the wrong way early on. Having to follow up a kill with an additional attack over and over can get quite tiring, especially if there are lots of enemies and the player is using a lower weapon like the greatsword.

This lantern takes all that pain away and makes it so the only thing that comes from corpses are great loot and items to reward the player. It does come with a hefty price tag, but gold gain becomes trivial later on, and it is a great item to have on hand when dealing with groups of the undead, which are frequent throughout the world, so it is well worth the price and keeps all the functionality of the original lamp.

Augment Of Wisdom

Saving Valuable Lacrima In The Late Game

The first berserker khazan merchant item
  • Cost: 10,000 Lacrima, upon finding 15 Jarlings
  • Effect: Used to reset the increased cost from rerolling gear attributes.
  • Merchant: Danjin
  • Craftable: No

Rerolling of item stats is a mechanic players will unlock a fair way into their first playthrough. The ability to roll weaker stats into stronger ones on a piece of gear chosen is incredibly valuable and can turn some average pieces of armor into insanely powerful assets to take on entire armies with. But there is a price, being progressively more Lacrima needed for each subsequent roll on a single item, which can start to get extremely costly when hunting for a specific stat or effect.

As you step into the world of The First Berserker: Khazan, here are some skills you'll want to pick up.

Taking that increased cost all the way back to default is a very useful way of saving some precious Lacrima and still getting all the same benefits of re-rolling. It is effectively an item to help reduce spending towards the mid to late game, and while it is literally useless early on, using the item in the final stages and beyond will save countless amounts of currency, so it is definitely worth considering when rolling for those specific stats on the perfect set.

Transmutation Mist/Shards

The Bread And Butter Of Consumables

The first berserker khazan merchant item
  • Cost: 100 Gold Shards/1500 Gold Mist
  • Effect: Used to craft consumables
  • Merchant: Duimuk
  • Craftable: No

It's no secret that consumables and crafting in Khazan are powerful tools that should be used as much as possible to find the most success throughout the adventure. Whether it's supportive items that help remove nasty status effects or powerful explosive items that dish out high elemental damage from afar, crafting is king.

The main components for nearly all consumables are transmuation dust and mist. While it is true that both can be found from enemies as drops, after crafting just a few cleanses or other consumables, players will find themselves running low, and for such a low cost, it is almost a no-brainer to pay a visit to Duimuk and grab a few to keep the consumption going.

Concentrated Essence

Who Said Range Wasn't An Option

The first berserker khazan merchant item
  • Cost: 2100 Gold
  • Effect: Explodes when thrown, dealing continuous elemental damage to enemies within range
  • Merchant: Bard
  • Craftable: Yes

Keeping a distance is always an option that players can resort to for finishing off the last few slithers of boss HP or opting for a more hit-and-run playstyle to keep things as safe as possible. To help with those approaches, concentrated essences are a great addition to a player's inventory, as they deal some serious damage, elevated depending on the weaknesses of a given enemy.

They are on the pricier end, and further down the line, they can be crafted, which reduces the cost quite a bit, but it's hard to argue with free extra damage just by spending a few extra coins. There's fire, water, earth, and more, so whatever the threat, whatever the foe, there is an option that fits the situation and can make dealing with groups of enemies or troublesome bosses a whole lot easier.

Vitality Spheres

Like Chugging An Energy Drink

The first berserker khazan merchant item
  • Cost: 1500 Gold (Bard) 1000 Gold (Duimuk)
  • Effect: Temporarily increases stamina recovery rate
  • Merchant: Bard and Duimuk
  • Craftable: Yes

Stamina management is one of the most important aspects of the entire game, as it not only governs the player's ability to dish out damage but also to avoid it. Many stats, items, and armor pieces can provide decent boosts to the recovery speed, but nothing is quite as powerful as a Vitality Sphere, which makes the stamina bar feel bottomless and turns downtime into a fantasy.

For just 1000 gold and a short trip to the Crevice, players can jump back into a long bossfight with a new-found steroid that makes blocking blow after blow and rolling around the arena feel far more fluid and easy, without the stress of needing a breather. It really can change how a fight feels, as maybe a certain attack just catches the player as they run out of stamina, but with a Sphere in hand, that problem goes away, and the bosses will be soon to follow.

Legendary Jars

Silly But Stupidly Overpowered

The first berserker khazan merchant item
  • Cost: 119,999 Gold
  • Effect: Set Item Requirement Decrease, extra stats, multiple additional attributes
  • Merchant: Danjin
  • Craftable: No

If players are able to listen closely for the dancing jars and build up a pretty hefty bank account, the legendary jar helms sold by Danjin are some of the best pieces of armor in the entire game, providing up to 10 bonus stats to one of the core 5, multiple re-rerollable attributes and most importantly, -1 to the set item requirement.

It might seem like a small detail, but needing one less item in a set can be absurdly valuable when deciding on which pieces of armor to equip, as it means the player can use the jar helmet and its crazy stat buffs, along with an entire set of armor, to its fullest potential. It even opens the door for builds where the player equips a piece of armor from multiple different sets, which will all be instantly activated thanks to the power of the Jarlings. It's a great incentive to hunt around and a must-grab toward the latter stages of the game.
