With The Divison 2 officially confirmed to launch before April 2019, many gamers may be excited to see this game's release. Notably, it will be coming out beside two other AAA games from Ubisoft – that is, The Crew 2 and an unannounced title. Many, though, may be wondering how the sequel will compare to the original action-RPG, and comments made by Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot suggest that it will be better and faster than the original.
During a post-earnings call with investors, Guillemot revealed that several teams are working on having more content for launch than the first game, which is remarkable considering the hype already surrounding the The Division 2. Moreover, not only will the game have more content at launch, but the post-launch content for the game will come in quicker and larger amounts than the first game, with Guillemot noting that it was surprising how quickly content was consumed in the first game.
While that will be satisfying to players who felt the post-launch content of The Division to be lackluster, Guillemot also touched on the end-game content. Ubisoft is keenly aware of how the end-game content of the first game was another area in which the company dropped the ball, but it is planning to have better end-game content in The Divison 2.
Ubisoft CFO Alain Martinez believes the end-game content of Division 2 will be superior to the original game, so it will be interesting to see if this is a scenario where the sequel successfully builds upon the first iteration to make an even better product. Martinez also echoed Massive Entertainment's message that the constant refinement of the first game will make The Division 2 better than the original right out of the gate, and with the biggest Ubisoft development team ever, that will hopefully be true.
With better and faster content coming post-launch and in the end-game, many gamers may consider it one of the best games coming soon. Since Division 2 has been in development for over two years, it seems likely the game will meet their expectations, but only time will tell.
The Division 2 is scheduled to release by April 2019.
