Matt Reeves' The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, was delayed at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic and has yet to return to its production. However, new health guidelines put out by the U.K. Government this weekend have given Hollywood blockbusters and high-end television series the opportunity to resume production as early as July.

The guidelines have been put together by the British Film Commission and British Film Institute according to The Guardian Sunday, offering rules for physical distancing, safety training, and temperature tests. It will be up to each individual production, from The Batman to others like a new Fantastic Beasts movie and the live-action Little Mermaid remake, to decide how and when to begin filming.

The upcoming Caped Crusader film is separate from previous DC Comics films, and stars Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth as well as Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman. It will be "darker" than previous Batman movies according to Serkis.

In April Reeves confirmed The Batman was only 25 percent finished filming before stopping due to the pandemic, so now that it can start up again there's a lot more to get done.

The Batman is currently set to premiere in 2021.
