The Alters: Gifting Guide

Running your base of operations smoothly in The Alters requires a lot of work. Not only will you need to keep all your alters fed, give them work to do, and maintain all the structures and items in the base, but you will also need to try to make the alters as happy as possible.

There are several ways to do this in The Alters. And the easiest way to give any upset alter a boost is to give him a present in the form of personal effects that have been scattered around the maps.

How Gift Giving Works in The Alters

As you wander around the different maps, you can find a variety of objects around. These include organics, metals, movies, and personal items that were scattered all over the planet when your pods crashed. If you pick up all these items, you will be able to give them as presents to whichever alters you make first in The Alters, and each gift given will help to smooth any fighting between you and your clones.

The way gift giving works is that you pick up objects outside, then you give them to raise the alters' happiness in The Alters; you can see where each alter is currently hanging around in the upper left-hand part of the screen. Then, you can interact with each alter and see if it's an item they want. Gifts cannot be given to alters that won't like them. This means if the option to give the gift is available when interacting with the alter, it's a good gift for them.

The Alters The Meaning Of Life Scientist Choice

There are several locations in the Prologue and the Acts for these drops. These will contain one of three things: personal items, movies to watch in the Social Room, or Qubit chips. The items you receive in personal cargo drops is somewhat random; it appears that you will only get good gifts for the alters you actually have in your party currently, though this needs more testing to be sure.
