Tekken 8’s latest update is now live, adding DLC fighter Lidia Sobieska, a Photo Mode, and a handful of other new features and quality-of-life improvements. Bandai Namco’s latest 3D fighting game launched to rave reviews back in January, with many praising the title's polished visuals and more aggressive gameplay. In the months to come, the developers behind Tekken 8 have continued fine-tuning the game through online update patches, and have also boosted its already packed roster with returning fan-favorite combatants.

The first Tekken 8 DLC character was Eddy Gordo, who danced his way back onto the battlefield in April. Earlier this month, two other DLC characters from past entries were confirmed for Tekken 8, starting with Lidia Sobieska from Tekken 7. As revealed in a recent Tekken 8 gameplay trailer, Lidia is still using her traditional karate style to battle against the forces of corruption and avenge her father’s death in a tragic terrorist attack.

Tekken 8 Reveals Fan-Favorite Character Returning as DLC Fighter

At Evo 2024, Tekken 8 producer and director Katsuhiro Harada reveals that a fan-favorite character will return to the series as a DLC fighter.

Tekken 8’s new Update 1.06 patch went live on July 22 after the game’s servers were temporarily taken offline for a few hours. The most prominent addition in this new update is Lidia Sobieska, who is now playable in Early Access for those who purchased the Tekken 8 Playable Character Year 1 Pass. Everyone else will have to wait until July 25 to add Lidia to their Tekken 8 roster. Update 1.06 also adds the new “Seaside Resort” battle stage, as well as a Photo Mode that will allow players to take pictures of their high-octane Tekken 8 matches.

Tekken 8 Update 1.06 Adds Lidia Sobieska, New Stage, And Photo Mode

New items have also been added to Tekken 8’s Item Shop, such as the “TEKKEN Fight Pass -Round 2” battle pass. This includes new daily and weekly missions that players can complete during online matches to unlock items and earn spendable Tekken Coins. There will also be new “Celebrity Pack” and “Vacation Pack” costumes available for each playable character.

Lastly, Tekken 8’s newest update features improvements and bug fixes for the classic Tekken Ball game mode, Special Style, and “My Replay and Tips.” There will be more Tekken 8 updates and patches in the near future, especially with the game’s first story-based DLC on the way. Bandai Namco is hoping to keep Tekken 8 in the public eye throughout 2024 and beyond through continued updates and special promotions, like the title's recent crossover with Nike. In February of 2024, it was announced that the game had sold over two million copies in its first month.
