Making its debut as a Daredevil parody, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles burst onto the comic book scene in 1984 and became an overnight success. Creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird were quickly approached with offers to create toys and a cartoon based on their work, and the rest is history. For over four decades now, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has remained a consistent part of pop-culture, with each generation receiving its own reimagined version of the eponymous crime-fighters. And with every reboot comes a wealth of tie-in video games.

There have been well over 50 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games since 1989, and though they've been a mixed bag overall, plenty have left their mark on fans over the years. And TMNT shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. 2025 has already been a busy year for the Turtles in the world of gaming, and it might be about to get a whole lot busier.

2025 Could Be a Big Year for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Gaming

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Have Just Appeared in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

A few weeks ago, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles made their Call of Duty debut, and set a new bar for the game's crossover events. For around $20 each, fans could unlock Operator skins based on all four Turtles, along with a handful of Weapon Blueprints and additional cosmetics inspired by the franchise.

These TMNT Tracer Packs were accompanied by an Event Pass. This latest Call of Duty: Warzone/Black Ops 6 Event Pass includes both a paid and free track, with the free track netting players two Foot Clan skins, a skateboard melee weapon, and some other TMNT cosmetics, and the premium track giving them a Master Splinter Operator skin, a Splinter-specific finisher, and an impressive total of five Weapon Blueprints.

A handful of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-inspired game modes are also available, including "TMNT Moshpit" for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's multiplayer, which allows players to use special superhero abilities and Scorestreaks modeled after each Turtle, and "Cowabunga Cranked" for Black Ops 6 Zombies, a chaotic countdown timer mode.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Are on PlayStation Plus

Another big win for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, and for fans of it, is that the TMNT: Cowabunga Collection is now available for free via PlayStation Plus Essential. This collection brings together 13 individual TMNT games that were originally released between 1989 and 1994, including the beloved arcade games and some NES/SNES classics.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Could Take Their Cameo Tour to Fortnite and Rocket League Next

Back in February of last year, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and their archnemesis Shredder dropped onto Fortnite's ever-changing island. A recent leak from SamLeakss on Twitter suggests that Fortnite could be getting ready to dip its toes into the ooze once again, this time hosting a shared event across both the Battle Royale and Rocket League in which players can earn the Turtles' Party Wagon. It's also been rumored this event will bring a handful of new TMNT skins to Fortnite, including characters like Casey Jones, Bebop, and Rocksteady.

A demo for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown has also just released on Steam.

A Video Game Adaptation of a Beloved TMNT Comic is on its Way

Back in August 2023, a video game adaptation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin was announced by publisher THQ Nordic. For those unaware, The Last Ronin is a five-issue comic miniseries that came out between October 2020 and April 2022, detailing the last remaining Turtle's quest to avenge the death of his three brothers.

Given that TMNT: The Last Ronin was only announced in August 2023, and that it's reportedly aiming to be a fully-fledged AAA game, it seems unlikely fans will get to play it this year. However, it's possible they'll get to see a trailer by the end of 2025.
