Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game will release at 9 AM PT/ 12 PM ET on July 29, 2025, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. This is slightly different to some major games that get midnight releases across different time zones so that fans can begin playing as soon as possible. Can You Preload Tales of the Shire?
Some Bad News on the Hobbiton Horizon
Unfortunately, as this is a smaller release, it appears as though the game can't be digitally preordered on any platform. As such, players will need to wait until the game officially releases in their time zone (at the time listed above), before they'll be able to purchase and download the game.
If this changes closer to release, I'll update this post with the new information so you can get prepared for your venture into the village of Bywater and live out your best Hobbit life. Unfortunately, this time there's no head start if you're downloading the game as opposed to buying the physical edition of Tales of the Shire.
You might want to check that your PC specifications meet Tales of the Shire's requirements in the meantime, as it's quite demanding for a cozy game.
