In Tales of the Shire, you can upgrade both your home and garden. There are some locked-off garden parts with fences in the way, as well as some doors inside your home that are locked off.

If you want to get inside these rooms, you will need to make some friends. The best way to do that in Tales of the Shire is to make sure you are inviting the hobbits around town to enjoy stellar meals as often as possible and complete your club quests.

All House Upgrades in Tales of the Shire

In order to upgrade your house and unlock all the possible rooms inside, you will need to make good friends with Willow. Willow is the woman who lives in the forest with her daughter, Daisy, and she is easy to befriend. All you need to do is invite her around to dinner a few times, and she will start making your house a hobbit hole home. Make sure to make the items she is craving in the flavor she wants in the cooking menu of Tales of the Shire, and try to make it have as many stars as possible.

Level 3: Willow will fix your front door in Tales of the Shire.
Level 6: Willow will unlock a large section in the front of the house.
Level 10: Willow will unlock a large section in the back of the house toward the kitchen.

All Garden Upgrades in Tales of the Shire

Garden upgrades are a little different from house upgrades. In order to unlock the garden parts, open the pathways, and unlock a couple of new rooms right off the kitchen, you will need to do some club activities. There are four clubs you get toward the beginning of the game: Cooking, Fishing, Foraging, and Gardening in Tales of the Shire. As you continue to plant and harvest items in your garden, you can fulfill club quests and get points towards unlocking your garden completely. Just about every level you get in the gardening club will unlock a new garden location; there are five in total.

Level 1: Unlocks a part of the garden.
Level 2: Unlocks a part of the garden by the kitchen; it also unlocks those rooms off the kitchen.
Level 4: Garden space is unlocked.
Level 5: Last garden space is unlocked.

While you get a little bit of XP in the Tales of the Shire Gardening Club levels from just planting and harvesting seeds, you will gain a lot more if you pick up quests from the Gardening Club board at The Ivy Bush Inn. Interact with the board, then either plant or harvest the items it requests.
