Tales of Kenzera: Zau is a Metroidvania game that follows the story of a shaman called Zau. To bring his father back to life, Zau travels the whole of Kenzera to deal with the Great Spirits. The game can take some time to beat as there are four Acts, and every Act ends with a boss fight, which are all unique and can be challenging.
Baba is the final boss, located in the final main area of the game. Beating him ends Zau's story. The guide below details all the boss's movements and how the player can avoid them and counterattack.

How To Find Baba
After meeting all the Great Spirits and making sure that they pass on, Zau will be ready to travel to the Realm of the Dead. Going back to the area where the game starts, you will find Kalunga asking whether you are ready to enter the Realm of the Dead. The game also shows a pop-up saying that this is a point of no return, but you do not need to worry, as, after this section, you can play the game from before the point of no return using your Save File.
After entering the final area, you will have to make use of all of your abilities to make your way to the end, where you meet Zau's father. Baba will ask you to show what you have learned, initiating a two-phase boss fight. You can visit all the Reflection Points before entering the Realm of the Dead so that you have a high health bar before going for this boss fight.

How To Beat Baba
Baba, as the final boss of the game, implements all the moveset of the previous bosses into his arsenal. This can prove troublesome, especially on harder difficulties. You also have to keep in mind that there are holes on each side of the side of the arena that can make you fall if you get knocked there. The following tips can help make the fight easier:
- Perfect Recharge and Light Barrage are great Skills to use for this fight from the Moon Mask.
- Keep attacking the boss when he is switching Masks to increase Spirit.
- Store Spirit for Lunar Blast to melt the boss's health bar.
Phase 1
The fight will start with Baba spawning Masks around him and occasionally shooting them at you. He also has an attack where he moves from one corner to another, with all the masks surrounding him. You can shoot these masks using your Light Charges. As with most boss fights, the Moon Mask is much more useful as the boss is constantly above the ground, and the ability to lock onto the target and shoot is extremely useful. The Perfect Recharge skill, meanwhile, makes the time between your reloads non-existent, and further increases your damage for a short duration.
Throughout the fight, the boss summons a few enemies that you can either deal with or ignore. Ignoring them is an option, but given the small arena you have to work with, it is best that you quickly switch to Sun Mask and deal with them using the Light Attack combo. Alternatively, you can use the Lunar Blast to defeat them all while also dealing damage to Baba.
The boss will temporarily become immune to damage after every 25% of their health is reduced, allowing him to change Masks and use a new moveset. The first is Impundulu's Mask, with which the boss starts to summon Lightning bolts from the sky. The boss casts this multiple times, but it has an easy tell, and you can dodge to any side to avoid them. In another attack, the boss goes to one side of the arena and starts to cast a Lightning Beam from his hand. This covers the entire arena, so dodging through it is the only way. Keep attacking the boss even during his attacks using your Light Charges or Light Barrage.
The next mask is Kikiyaon, with which Baba casts a fog that covers the entire arena ground and deals constant damage. Platforms will start to form, and you will have to climb up all the way to the top to be able to deal damage to the boss.
Even though this attack persists for a short duration, it is best that you do not fall from the platforms as you will lose all of your health before being able to get back on the platforms.
Baba also shoots masks from the sky that deal a small amount of damage. These can be annoying to dodge with all the enemies surrounding you.
The last mask is Gagorib's Mask. In this section of the fight, Baba has an attack in which he disappears from the screen, and a circle forms around where you are standing. After a short while, Baba will land, dealing damage and sending out shockwaves. The boss can do this multiple times, so it is best to stay on your toes. Do not use your Supernova or Lunar Blast while this mask is active, as the boss will teleport away, making you waste your Spirit, and landing on top of you shortly after.
For another attack, Baba raises pillars that travel from one corner to another. These pillars can not be dashed through and are tall enough that you cannot double-jump above them. The only way to deal with these is to perform the Tshukudu's Might ability as the pillar comes towards you. This will break the pillar, allowing you to focus on the next one.
As soon as the boss loses all of his health, he will fall down and restore his health again, starting the second phase.
Phase 2
The second phase is similar to the first, with the addition of the boss being able to change Masks without any delay. In this phase, Baba is not invincible during the Mask change, allowing you to use Lunar Blast and take out his entire health bar. Baba has the same attacks and moveset as the first phase, so you should not have any problems dodging them. A few of the attacks are slightly different, like the platforms one in Kikiyaon's mask, where the platforms spawn differently. Defeating the boss ends the game and earns players the trophy/achievement called "The End of Another."
