Though Tales of Arise players are able to find some weapons out in the field, the vast majority are obtained through crafting. This is especially true of Alphen's; with 23 of his 29 base game blades coming courtesy of the game's many blacksmiths. Not all of these can be forged from the get-go, however, with new weapons gradually becoming available as the game's main story progresses.
The first step to crafting a new weapon for Alphen is finding one of these blacksmiths, which is a relatively simple task. There are blacksmiths in all of the inns in Tales of Arise, and many of the campsite merchants can also facilitate weapon crafting. The hard part is tracking down all of the required crafting components, most of which come from defeating powerful Zeugels and other challenging foes.
Updated November 4, 2021 by Tom Bowen: As is often the case with modern video games, Tales of Arise launched with plenty of DLC content already available. What's more, in the months that have followed its release, several more DLC packs have been made available, including the recent Sword Art Online collaboration. As a result, Alphen now has three additional weapons available to him, two of which are among the very best weapons in Tales of Arise. This guide will explain exactly how players can obtain them, as well as how to find and craft all of the other weapons for Alphen that are currently in the game.

How To Obtain The Iron Pipe
Alphen will remove an Iron Pipe from a train car during the game's prologue, though will lose it shortly after. A little later on, however, players can reacquire the Iron Pipe in Iglia Wastes as part of the "The Mysterious Pair" sub-quest. It may seem useless, but it can eventually be used to craft one of Alphen's very best weapons and so is definitely worth picking up.

How To Obtain The Dull Sword
The Dull Sword is given to Alphen by Zephyr near the beginning of the game and is the weakest blade in Alphen's arsenal. It cannot be upgraded, so becomes useless once the party arrives in Ulzebek and unlocks weapon crafting.
