How To Start Playing With Fire In Tainted Grail The Fall Of Avalon

To start the Playing with Fire Quest in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, players need to reach the city of Cuanacht, located in the center of the second region in the game. Once there, players should go to the lower city's north side and check on the three guards trying to break through one of the houses' doors to trigger a brief cutscene.

Players should state they are 'Curious about what's going on,' and then offer to 'Investigate in place of the Kamelotian Soldiers.' Once they exhaust these dialogue options, they will be asked to speak to the Captain of the Kamelot Garrison in Cuanacht, Denholm.

Denholm is located in the upper city, across the bridge that leads to the north side, overlooking Firkel's house, to be more precise. Once players talk to him and offer to relieve his men from conducting the investigation, it will be time to go back to Firkel's house to question him. The guards state that Firkel's intentions were to burn down the garrison, and that he is dangerous, but the Captain has his doubts. Players will first have to listen to Firkel's side of the story before they can make a choice.

Should You Side With Firkel Or Denholm?

Once players go back to Firkel's House, they will be able to speak to the inventor, who will then fill them in on the rest of the story. Players should sure not to hurry and accuse Firkel of endangering Cuanacht's citizens, or he will close in, and they will not be able to complete the whole quest. Instead, show interest in his research and the Pyrolusite to make him spill the beans on what really happened.

Firkel will mention two important facts: He is aware that his research was dangerous, but he had it under control thanks to a powerful stabilizer, that the Garrison Guards stole from him. Firkel will also try to convince the players to vouch for him, choose 'They shouldn't have stolen from you, something must be done,' to carry on the quest and then go back to Legate Denholm to take the final choice: Side with Denholm and his men, and brand Firkel as a dangerous and deranged pyromaniac, or reveal the truth about his intentions and the source of the main problem, Denholm's men excess of force.

If players choose to side with Denholm's men and brand Firkel as a lunatic, the Legate will ask players to inform Firkel about his impending execution. This will cause Firkel to accept his fate and tell players to pick whatever they want from his house, since he is going to die anyway. The direct consequence of this choice will prevent players from getting one of the best combat consumables in the game: The Thundecall Crystal.

If players choose the option to tell 'Firkel's intentions were good, he didn't know what he was doing,' then Denholm will make the choice to expel Firkel from the city. This is not an outcome players should pick either. Instead, choose to blame Denholm's men and vow for Firkel's innocence, and Denholm will pardon him. Once players go back and tell Firkel the good news, he will open his shop to them, selling the powerful Thundercall Crystal that they can use to blast enemies away with ease.
