Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon offers different regions for players to explore, each offering a range of quests and secrets of its own. If players set out to explore the lands and enter darker regions of the map, they're bound to encounter mystical creatures to slay and loot unique rewards from them. The Mistbearer is one of the secret bosses players encounter in the Horns of the South, residing in the deepest parts of the ancient cave. Here's the best way to beat it.
Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon Unforgettable Quest Walkthrough
Unforgettable is the first and missable side quest players pick up in Asylum, at the start of Tainted Grail: The Fall Of Avalon.
Where to Find the Secret Mistbearer Boss in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
Players can find the Mistbearer boss in the northernmost part of the Horns of the South, in the Ancient Cave POI in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. The area is located in the northwest of All-Mothers Temple, just beyond the Ancient Cromlech.
Once you head up the winding trail, you'll encounter some enemies along the way. After reaching the marker above, you'll spot a huge gate that can be entered. Inside, you'll meet Taranis, who'll talk to you about hunting a Mistbearer. Simply exhaust all his dialog options, preferably without antagonizing him, and it'll start the Whispers in the Dark quest.
Now, continue down the twisting and turning cave network and head to the quest marker. You'll arrive in an open area with a large tree, and interacting with it will start the boss fight with the Mistbearer.
How to Beat the Mistbearer Boss
Mistbearer is a secret boss in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, with a slender floating body wearing a skull mask with antlers on its head. It has three phases, and its toughness will depend on the difficulty you're playing the game on. However, its moves are easy to dodge and counter, so experienced players won't have any problems dealing with it.
Melee weapons like swords and dual-wielding daggers are recommended for this fight.
Here's a breakdown of all its phases and how you can beat the boss with ease.
- Phase One: Mistbearer will stand in the middle of the arena and summon Mistlings with its lantern. You'll need to either use a melee or high-damage ranged weapon to damage the boss by aiming at its head.
- Phase Two: Once you've damaged the boss enough, it'll disappear into a cloud of mist and send some Mistlings to deal with you. You can damage these spectral creatures with your weapons. However, you can also use the Blood Transfusion spell here to gain some HP back. Once the minions are eliminated, the Mistbearer will appear, and you'll need to start targeting it immediately.
- Phase Three: In this phase, the Mistbearer will summon identical clones of itself, and you'll need to find its real body to inflict damage. This phase isn't that difficult, as the clones can quickly vanish on just one hit from your weapon.
Once you've defeated the Mistbearer, you'll receive the following rewards.
- 5x Wyrdplasm
- 1x Wyrdlantern
- 1x Unfading Ember
- 1x Evil Eye
- 1x Mistbearer's Horn
After defeating the creature, return to Taranis and update him on defeating the Mistbearer. If you didn't antagonize him before, you'll be able to meet up with him later on in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon.
