Doctor Stephen Strange is a fictional character created by Steve Ditko for Marvel Comics, first appearing in Strange Tales #110 (July 1963). Originally an arrogant neurosurgeon, Strange suffered nerve damage in his hands after a car accident, leading him to travel the world to find a solution. Ultimately leading him to the Ancient One, Strange learned about the mystical and martial arts before settling down as the Sorcerer Supreme at the Sanctum Sanctorum in New York City.
