Summary
- Raft is climbing the top paid game chart on Xbox since its recent release.
- User reviews on Microsoft Store show high satisfaction but some bug complaints.
- Top spots on the chart are dominated by sports games, with Raft ranking surprisingly high.
Survival sandbox game Raft has been doing very well on Xbox consoles since becoming available there for the first time early last month. The Top Paid game chart from The Microsoft Store shows Raft knocking at the door of the top 10 in the United States market, with some heavy competition keeping it from breaking through that barrier.
Raft first launched in early access on Steam in May 2018. Hitting its full release in June 2022, the survival game, which tasks players with making constant upgrades to the titular raft as they cross a vast sea, has performed admirably on Steam, receiving a 93 percent approval rate among the more than 286,000 players who have left a user review.
10 Best Survival Games Set In Open Waters
Survival games set in jungles, deserts, and tundra are common, but there aren't many set on the open sea. These games help solve that issue.
After being announced for Xbox on December 3, 2024, Raft made the leap to Microsoft's consoles the very next day, where it's currently sitting in 11th place in the United States on the Microsoft Store's Top Paid category. The highly-rated co-op survival game seems to be enjoying an unlikely resurgence on a chart that is mostly filled with Triple-A sports games and first-person shooters. While there is no official sales data available to show just how many people have bought Raft on Xbox since its early December release, Xbox determines its Top Paid Games rankings using a combination of factors including recent sales, active players, and overall popularity, meaning Raft's sales have likely been going very well since making the leap to Xbox.

Three of the top four games on Microsoft's list are EA-published sports titles — Madden NFL 25, College Football 25, and UFC 5 Ultimate Edition — with 2K Games' NBA 2K25 Standard Edition taking up the third spot and EA Sports popping up again in eighth place with soccer game FC 25 Standard Edition. Only one other survival game, Mojang's Minecraft, is currently outpacing Raft with its sixth-place entry. While Minecraft is clearly much more well-known, being the best-selling game of all time with more than 300 million copies sold since its 2011 launch, both it and Raft have been regarded as among the best open-world crafting games.
User reviews on the Microsoft Store show a relatively high level of satisfaction with Raft, as 65 percent of players have given it a full five stars, and an additional 9 percent list it as a four-star game. However, 17 percent of user reviews have given it the lowest rating possible, with many saying they have run into game-breaking bugs. These range from Raft' s animals and other threats failing to spawn to problems with getting crossplay to function. Additionally, some five-star reviews note the lack of a deadzone for analog sticks, making the game hard to play on any controller with stick drift issues. Nevertheless, many gamers seem very happy to have a new platform for playing Raft.
