The new Supernatural comic will debut in October. It is written by lauded author Greg Pak and artist Eder Messias. Pak is known for his work on Planet Hulk, World War Hulk, and Star Wars: Darth Vader, and Messias has worked on Spider-Man, Moon Knight, and Predator. The two creators have also worked together previously on Captain America. Even when fans enjoy forays in new directions, the brotherly relationship at the center of the shows seems to be what made it work as well as it did. While other attempts at spinoff shows feel likely, fans would love a revival series to bring their beloved characters back for more episodes.
Rumors of a revival series have been hinted at, with the stars of Supernatural, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, reportedly both on the same page about things. Even Castiel actor Misha Collins has expressed similar sentiments about the possible revival. During the recent 20th anniversary interviews (via Tech Advisor), the three were in attendance, and Padalecki stated:
We’re all a lot older than we were 20 years ago. I don’t know if I have 22 episodes of Supernatural in me. I think a limited series would be great.
