- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate version 13.0.3 fixed an issue with the Global Smash Power ranking system.

On October 8, Nintendo released Super Smash Bros. Ultimate version 13.0.3, which addressed an issue with the game's "Global Smash Power" rankings not being returned to the correct levels following a connection disruption at the end of a match. The latest Super Smash Bros. Ultimate update includes no balance changes for characters.
The latest Super Smash Bros. Ultimate update came nearly eight months after the previous version 13.0.2 content patch. In version 13.0.2, the only thing listed in the patch notes was the addition of Sora Amiibo compatibility, over two years after Sora was introduced to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as the game's final DLC character. Although Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has not received a balance update since version 13.0.1 was released in December 2021, that has not stopped players of different skill levels from continuing to compete in local and online matches as their favorite characters.

A day after the Nintendo Switch received a firmware update, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate followed suit with a new software version. According to Nintendo, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate version 13.0.3 fixed an issue in which the game's Elo-based ranking system, called Global Smash Power (GSP), would not return to appropriate levels if there was a connection disruption at specific times following the end of an online match. Nintendo noted that compatibility issues with replays from version 9.0.0 to 13.0.2 may occur following the release of version 13.0.3. Nintendo added that players who want to keep previous replays should go to the game's Vault and convert replays to videos before updating to 13.0.3. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players can download version 13.0.3 by connecting their Switch to the Internet, where the game should automatically update if recently played, or by pressing the Plus button and selecting Software Update while in the system's Home menu.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Version 13.0.3 Notes (October 8, 2024)
- Online: Fixed an issue in which Global Smash Power would not return to appropriate levels when the connection was disrupted with specific timing at the end of a match.
- Note: There may be compatibility issues with replays from Ver. 9.0.0 to 13.0.2. Replays from Ver. 8.1.0 and earlier are not compatible. If you want to keep your replays, convert them into videos before installing the update. You can do this via Vault → Replays → Replay Data → Convert to Video.
While Super Smash Bros. Ultimate version updates have become rarer since 2021, the game has received additional Spirit Board content that includes characters from more recent Nintendo titles. Although Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were released a year after mainstream support for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate ended, the Spirits of Koraidon, Miraidon, Ogerpon, Terapagos, and the Paldean starters were permanently added in a July 2024 update.
Although rumors surrounding the Nintendo Switch's successor console continue to make the rounds, that has not stopped Nintendo from providing updates to its major titles as needed. Only time will tell if another Super Smash Bros. Game will be released for the next Nintendo system.
