Now that Super Mario Run's Android release date is almost here, Nintendo is set to roll out the red carpet for fans of the title on Google's mobile operating system, and the Big N will also be updating the iOS version to add new characters to the game. Unfortunately, however, Nintendo has yet to divulge exactly which fresh characters from the Mario universe will be incorporated into the mobile release.

In addition to Super Mario Run's jump to Android devices this Thursday and the impending iOS Version 2.0.0 update, a game change is coming that will unlock World 1-4 after completing one of Bowser’s challenges in the free version. This ought to be good news for those who aren’t keen on purchasing the full game just yet, as it gives fans an additional level to enjoy.

Prior to Super Mario Run's release on Android, the mobile game has enjoyed considerable success on iOS devices, as it managed to make $14 million in its first three days of availability for the Apple operating system, and that's only accounting for the 5% of people playing the title who spent the money to unlock the full game. Surely, once the title makes its way onto Google's mobile platform, Super Mario Run's profits will explode even more so.

All things considered, it will be interesting to see if Super Mario Run manages to keep its momentum moving forward on both Android and iOS devices. Should Nintendo continue to offer additional incentives to give people a reason to jump from the free iteration to the paid version, whether in the form of fresh content or free coins, it's highly likely that the title will continue to see steady returns.

Super Mario Run is out now for iOS devices, and is set to release for Android on March 23, 2017.
