A Super Mario RPG bug has been discovered, and it can prevent players from progressing in the game. Super Mario RPG is just the latest big Switch game to launch in 2023.
Super Mario RPG is the remake of 1996's Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars. In the story, the villain Smithy invades the Mushroom Kingdom with his gang and destroys the Star Road in seven parts. Mario then joins Bowser, Geno, Mallow, and Princess Peach on a quest to find the seven Star Pieces and prevent the Smithy Gang from taking over the world. With the familiar turn-based combat, Super Mario RPG also has a variety of changes, such as the new Action Gauge and Triple Moves mechanics. But while players are having a great time, Nintendo has warned of a problem that could hinder their fun with Super Mario RPG.
Super Mario RPG Comparison Video Shows Just How Much the Remake Changed
A video comparing Super Mario RPG on the Nintendo Switch to the original on the Super NES shows just how different the remake is.
Nintendo has confirmed the existence of a bug that blocks progression in Super Mario RPG. According to Nintendo, the bug can occur after the Paratroopa event triggers in Monster Town. Due to this error, the Paratroopers don't appear when the player goes to Land's End. Nintendo also confirmed that it is already working on a fix, and will address the bug in a patch planned for release in December. Monstro Town is located in the far west of the game's world and is the place to get some of the best Super Mario RPG items.
While the Super Mario RPG progression bug has yet to be corrected, Nintendo has shared a workaround. If the player encounters the error, they can return to the Mushroom Kingdom and then to Land's End, and that should make the Paratroopers appear as expected. In a statement, Nintendo explained there is no problem with players using the map to travel to the Mushroom Kingdom. Once back in Land's End from the Mushroom Kingdom, players can use the map or the "To World Map" option. In addition, Nintendo says there's no need to enter the castle in the Mushroom Kingdom to solve the bug. All Super Mario RPG players need to do is enter the town around the castle.
The original Super Mario RPG is a game much loved by players, and the remake is no different. Super Mario RPG is one of the highest-rated games of the year, putting to rest the concerns of veteran players. While they feared the potential changes, the game kept to its roots and pleased newcomers and long-time fans alike.
