Although there's been a number of LEGO video game crossovers in recent years, it seems the upcoming LEGO Super Mario sets look to be the most accurate to its source material. The sets themselves act like traditional Mario levels, with a number of interactive pieces, challenges for users to beat, and a countdown timer that sees players complete a course against the clock. Many are probably wondering when they'll finally get to build their interactive LEGO Mario levels, and luckily, it seems potential buyers now officially know when it will release.
According to LEGO.com, the Super Mario starter kit bundle will be available on August 1, so players will be able to get their hands on the unique set in merely a few months' time. Alongside that, the site also provides the beginner's set price, which will seemingly be for $60.
As many will know, LEGO plans to release a number interconnecting Super Mario based sets, with players being able to mix and match to create courses. So, what will those who pre-order the starter kit bundle get in the package? The basic set comes with a number of essential items, with players getting a variety of important aspects of any Mario course. This includes the franchise's iconic green warp pipe, a goal pole, a question mark block, a Goomba figure, a Bowser Jr figure on a tower, and, of course, Mario himself. These are seemingly the core elements of every LEGO Mario set and are essential for players looking to collect and play with the new range of LEGO merchandise.
However, fans who pre-order the set on LEGO's site will get an additional two sets for free. These are the "Monty Mole & Super Mushroom Expansion Sets," which contain a few iconic Mario items that fans will no doubt be keen to get their hands on. The former includes a POW block, a stone-eye, and a launchable Monty Mole, while the latter features a Super Mushroom. No doubt they're all great additions to any custom Mario level, so eager fans should consider pre-ordering to receive the deal.
With this year marking Mario's 35th anniversary, there's never been a better time to be a fan of the long-standing franchise. Not only are these LEGO sets finally bringing together two of the most beloved brands on the planet, but seemingly a number of Mario's best games will be seeing remasters for the Switch as well as a brand new Paper Mario game.
The LEGO Super Mario Starter Kit Bundle will release on August 1, 2020.
