Suikoden 1 gives players the opportunity to give a name to the game's hero and his castle. What is the Hero's Canon Name in Suikoden 1
Tir McDohl
While never officially made canon, Suikdoen 1's hero is given the name Tir in the novelizations of the game. These novels, which were written by Shinjiro Hori and were released in Japan starting in 1999, give players a good reason to go with Tir when naming the game's hero, though it is certainly not required that they do so.
The announcement trailer for Suikoden I&II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars uses Tir as the name for the protagonist. Indeed, Ted addresses the hero as Tir in that trailer, though that moment is brief, and it is not repeated in the game's launch trailer.

Alternatively, players could name the hero Ryui, as that is the name that is used in the Suikoden mangas that were released in 2009. Fans of the Suikoden series occasionally associate that name with Louie, giving players yet another option when naming the protagonist. That said, these two names are not as present in community discussions about the game, and they may be considered less "official."
What is the Castle's Canon Name in Suikoden 1
Toran Castle
As is the case with the hero, players can look to the novelizations of Suikoden 1 to come up with a name for the castle. Indeed, these headquarters are referred to as Toran Castle, and that is quite sensible considering their location.
Players could also think about using one of their party member's suggestions when naming the castle. In the remaster, those suggestions include Dragon Castle and Orange Castle, and either is perfectly acceptable. Suikoden players could also simply name the castle after the hero.
