Power Rangers is an American adaptation of the Japanese Super Sentai series, a superhero Tokusatsu show. Due to Power Ranger's many promotional tie-ins, many iconic characters often receive intricately themed Power-Ups. While this is mostly the case for Red Rangers, it isn't mutually exclusive. Some Rangers achieve multiple forms simply because they swap colors between seasonal iterations.
POWER RANGERS Mighty Morphin Re-Ignition - Ultimate Megazord Electronic Figure
Many of the most iconic Powers Rangers have served multiple roles throughout the series. Jason Lee Scott might be the Mighty Morphin Red Ranger, but he is also a prominent Zeo Gold Ranger. Scott isn't the only Ranger to receive this treatment, nor is he the most powerful Power Ranger with multiple forms. Ultimately, several prominent Power Rangers have multiple unique reactions throughout their interaction with the morphing grid.
10 Jayden Shiba Has an Incredible Amount of Battlizers
Power Rangers: Samurai
Few Power Rangers series feature the same number of Battlizers as Power Rangers Samurai . The Red Ranger isn't the only character who receives love in the series. In addition to a Mega mode, almost every Samurai Ranger also has a Super Mode. Yet, Jayden Shiba's Red Samurai Ranger still has several exclusive transformations on top of that. He might not have the most powerful Power Rangers transformations, but he certainly has the most numerous.
10 Strongest Villains In Power Rangers History, Ranked
The Power Rangers have faced some fearsome foes over the course of the franchise, but these are by far the most formidable.
In addition to Mega Mode and Super Mode, Shiba also has access to Super Mega Mode, Shark Attack Mode, and Shogun Mode. Many of these were simply created due to toy licensing deals, but they provided a great deal of visual distinction. Many of the Power-Ups are exclusively used in Zord combat due to how unruly they would be to fight in. Nevertheless, many fans still agree they are stunning to look at.
9 Carlos Vallerte Brings the Black Ranger Back into the Fold
Power Rangers: Turbo
Carlos Vallerte is one of the few characters to switch colors. Most of the time when there's a Green Power Ranger, there isn't a Black Power Ranger. Vallerte holds the distinction of serving as both the Green Turbo Ranger and the Black Space Ranger, making him one of the only characters to do so aside from Tommy Oliver. This distinction ultimately makes the color choice seem incredibly important in retrospect.
Vallerte is also one of the few rangers to be transformed by his series' big bad into a monster. He might not have had access to any battleizers, but he is on some of what many consider to be the strongest Rangers' teams. He has made several appearances since his Ranger tenure officially ended, but usually appears as the Black Space Ranger. He might only dress in the Power Rangers' auxiliary colors, but that doesn't make him any less important.
8 Casey Rhodes's Upgrades Are Epically Stylized
Power Rangers: Jungle Fury
Casey Rhodes is the Red Ranger of a smaller team of powerful martial-arts focused Power Rangers. Although the Jungle Fury Ranger existed after the time of Battlizers, his power-ups are decidedly different. The studio allegedly spent most of the Battlizer budget adding the Spirit Rangers. Rhodes would still receive some incredible transformations in his time. His whole team has access to Jungle Fury Master Mode, but only Casey can use the Strike Rider.
Power Rangers: 8 Strongest Purple Rangers, Ranked
There aren't too many Purple Power Rangers in the franchise but these are the strongest of the bunch.
Rhodes' Strike Rider mode can only be accessed while using the vehicle, but comes with some incredible visual distinctions. On top of having several additional pieces of body armor, both his boots and gloves get a significant upgrade. While this mode isn't canonically considered a Battlizer, it functions in the exact same way and many fans decide to loop it in.
7 Amelia Jones Goes From the Pink Ranger to the Team Leader
Power Rangers: Cosmic Fury
Amelia Jones is one of the most interesting Power Rangers of the modern era. She is also one of the few women to ever receive the role of Red Ranger, and she does so incredibly. She began her Power Rangers tenure as the Dino Fury Pink Ranger, but transitioned to the Dino Fury Red Ranger after Zayto took a step back. Jones also goes on to become the Cosmic Fury Red Ranger, cementing her lead of the team and her role as a Red Ranger.
Since Jones remains one of only two female Red Rangers ever, the character harbored a lot of pressure. That said, Jones beautifully delivers and creates one of the most compelling Rangers in recent years. She remains one of the last Red Rangers to date, and has quickly risen through the ranks as one of the most popular. She is also the only Power Ranger in history to transition from the role of Pink to Red, which is incredibly cool.
6 Andros Receives the Very First Battlizer in the Franchise
Power Rangers: Lost in Space
The space-colony faring Andros leads the Space Power Rangers due to his familiarity with the landscape. Andros is many older fans' favorite Red Ranger and even credited with saving the universe. He is also the first Red Ranger in history to receive a Battlizer. The design is decidedly dated and heavily reflective of the area, but remains iconic due to the character who uses it. That said, the Battlizer canonically performed rather poorly in battle.
Andros' power-ups' main benefit is that it provides him with the ability to fly without a Zord. This might seem like an absolute asset, but it also significantly weighed him down in battle. Andros would wisely reserve the Battlizer for transportation purposes, more than anything else. Even without the upgrade, he remains one of the strongest of the older rangers.
5 Nick Russell Upgrades His Abilities With Powerful Fire Magic
Power Rangers: Mystic Force
Nick Russell has access to one ability that many rangers don't; magic. Power Rangers: Mystic Force is an extremely creative fantasy take on the series with many interesting distinctions from the normal franchise. In addition to many Battlizers, Nick also has the benefit of using Magic to upgrade his abilities. Nevertheless, his Battlizer remains his most iconic transformations of the season.
9 Strongest White Rangers In Power Rangers
These are the strongest characters ever to earn the title of White Ranger, granting them powerful abilities and making them formidable Power Rangers.
Both the Red Legend Warrior and the Dragon Fire Ranger are exceptionally powerful and visually distinctive. Although every Ranger has access to the Legend Warrior form, the Dragon form is exclusive to the Red Ranger. Power Rangers: Mystic Force has some of the greatest aesthetics in the franchise, and Nick's various power-ups are perfect examples. The Mystic Red Ranger would also fall under a similar curse to his father Leanbow and become the second Knight Wolf in the iteration.
4 Sky Tate Eventually Becomes the S.P.D. Deka Ranger
Power Rangers: S.P.D.
Sky Tate might be the S.P.D. Blue Ranger, but he has always dreamed of being the Red Ranger and eventually gets his wish after Anubis Kruger receives a promotion. Although most of his other forms are reserved for the comics, they are understandably iconic. Tate also has access to the S.P.D Swat power-up, which is visually iconic. He might only use the form as a Blue Ranger, but it's assumed the power-up could be accessed once he transitions to team leader.
Tate's Deka Ranger design is one of the coolest editions the comic has ever included. Many fans desperately wish the form could make its way into the visual cannon, which could be possible with the reboot. Tate is one of the most prominent figures in the comic Soul of the Dragon storyline, so if it is ever adapted into live-action, the now S.P.D. Earth Base commander will surely make an appearance.
3 Zayto Starts as the Dino Fury Red Ranger, But Becomes So Much More
Power Rangers: Dino Fury
Zayto easily has the most forms out of any modern Power Ranger. He even chooses to become part of the morphing grid upon his eventual death. During his tenure with the Rangers, he served as the Dino Fury Red Ranger, Pink Ranger, Zenith Ranger, as well as the Cosmic Zenith Ranger and Morphin Master. This is enough roles to put the iconic Tommy Oliver to shame. In addition to his many positions, Zayton also has access to every power-up the Dino Fury and Cosmic Fury Rangers receive.
Best Power Rangers Series, Ranked
From the Mighty Morphin to Ninjas and Samurai, the best Power Rangers seasons offer great mecha action and awesome characters,
The alien former leader has access to more forms than any character in Power Rangers history. However, this has more to do with their status as a modern Ranger than anything else. Now, more than ever, Rangers receive a multitude of forms to coincide with various toy deals created by the larger franchise. His status as a Morphin Master also makes him one of the most powerful figures in the entire series.
2 Jason Lee Scott Is the First Ranger to Receive a Dedicated "Power-Up"
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
Jason Lee Scott is the original Mighty Morphin Red Ranger, and one of the first Rangers to retire and then return. However, he really only appears in the early seasons of the show. That said, the Cosmic series received a more Jason-focused cameo, signaling he might make a more concrete return in the future. Nevertheless, Jason's status as both Red Ranger and Gold Ranger is nothing short of iconic. He has also shown the ability to call upon the Dragon Shield after the powers shift from Tommy Oliver.
Few Rangers are considered as highly as Scott, and he is one of the two figures fans typically assert as the best Power Rangers of all time. However, when it comes to the amount of forms a character possesses and how well they use them, his main rival certainly has him beat. That said, Jason Lee Scott's Dragon Shield transformation remains one of the first unofficial Battlizers in the franchise.
1 Tommy Oliver Has Several Iconic Forms, But His First Remains the Most Popular
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
Tommy Oliver is the longest serving Power Ranger of all time. It makes sense that he would have more Ranger forms than most, but he has also starred in more episodes than any other Ranger with over 200 credited appearances. He has gone from the Green and White Mighty Morphin Rangers, to the Red Zeo Ranger, and finally the Black DIno Thunder Ranger. During this time, he has spent an incredible amount of time defending the earth and preserving the morphing grid.
If anyone understands what it means to take on different roles in a team, it's Tommy Oliver. He has been a leader, second-in-command, mentor, and everything in between. His various experiences throughout the entirety of the franchise are simply unmatched. He is also one of the most competent fighters in the series, which is heavily supported by his access to multiple transformations. Ultimately, no other Ranger has mastered the morphin grid like Tommy Oliver.
