Just like the games and manga, the original Pokémon anime showcases all sorts of amazing Pokémon. From the form-changing Ditto to the disaster-sensing Absol, every Pokémon intrigues the cast with their own unique powers. The anime also stresses the fact that no Pokémon is truly weak, because they all have the potential to be incredible.
Of course, there are several Pokémon that are leagues above their peers in terms of sheer power. Many of these Pokémon happen to be Legendary Pokémon, capable of re-shaping the universe if they so wish. Others are neither Legendary Pokémon nor Mythical Pokémon, but their legacies remain incredibly important.
Ash’s Pikachu Is Extraordinarily Strong
The Heroic Mouse Pokémon Has Grown a Lot
Raised in the wild by a Kangaskhan, Pikachu was caught by Professor Oak right after he evolved. Not long after, the Mouse Pokémon was introduced to Ash Ketchum, who was assigned to become his new Trainer. However, as Pikachu was still not used to being around humans, their relationship had quite a rocky start. Thankfully, Pikachu soon learned to trust his new Trainer after Ash rescued him from a horde of wild bird Pokémon.
Ever since that day, Ash and Pikachu are very rarely seen away from each other. Pikachu's own strength, even as he remains unevolved, is nothing less than one-of-a-kind, a source of power beyond what a normal Pikachu is capable of. No matter how tough a battle may be, Pikachu refuses to give up and refuses to abandon his friends. Aside from his amazing display of power that can even defeat Legendary Pokémon, Pikachu is also famous for using his signature Thunderbolt to blast away Team Rocket after the group tries to stir up trouble.
The Unown Created a Unique Entei
This Pokemon Acted as a "Parent" to Molly
Though they are neither Legendary nor Mythical Pokémon, Unown, a type of Psychic-type Pokémon, is shrouded in mystery. According to the Pokédex, these ancient symbol-shaped beings can create an odd display of power when working together. This is especially seen in Pokémon 3: The Movie, when lonely Molly Hale accidentally summons a great horde of Unown that completely changes her family's home into a castle of dreams and nightmares. Missing her father, Molly has the Unown manifest a unique version of the Legendary Pokémon Entei to act as her new "father", a role it agrees to.
As it was loyal to Molly, Entei acted on its new daughter's every wish, even kidnapping Ash Ketchum's mother after Molly desired to have a new one. This would later lead to an epic battle between Ash's Charizard and the Legendary Pokémon, whose moves, such as Flamethrower, were quite different than the usual attack. When the Unown's power threatened to destroy the palace and the entire region, Entei used its powers against its own creators, hoping to save Molly. In the end, Entei won the battle, and bid Molly farewell before it disappeared.
Rayquaza Is the Most Formidable of the Super-Ancient Pokemon
The Sky High Pokémon Can Quell the Fury of Kyogre and Groudon
Eons ago, the Continent Pokémon Groudon and the Sea Basin Pokémon Kyogre faced off against each other in a terrible battle. As the embodiments of the land and sea, the two were natural enemies, and they only thought of defeating one another without the consequences that their feud could bring. Before the Hoenn region could be destroyed, the third super-ancient Pokémon, Rayquaza, descended from the stratosphere and ended the battle between Kyogre and Groudon. Afterward, the Sky High Pokémon returned to the atmosphere above, leaving those on Earth in shock and awe.
Rayquaza made its animated debut in Pokémon: Destiny Deoxys, where it saw the DNA Pokémon as a threat and sought to eradicate it. Other Rayquaza, including Mega Rayquaza, have since appeared in the original animated series and Pokémon Horizons: The Series, with the latter being a Shiny Rayquaza. The Sky High Pokémon also had a major role in the Pokémon Generations episode "The Scoop", which detailed the events of the Delta Episode from Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. There, Mega Rayquaza, the only Pokémon of the super-ancient Pokémon to Mega Evolve, destroyed the feared Grand Meteor Delta, only to battle against the wild Deoxys that was hiding within it.

Mewtwo Once Waged War Against Humanity
Every Version of Mewtwo Possesses Extraordinary Powers
For eons, the Mythical Pokémon Mew has evaded the eyes of most beings, leaving behind a legacy cloaked in mystery. However, after Team Rocket uncovers a relic containing traces of Mew's DNA, they decide to create an enhanced clone of the Psychic-type Pokémon. The experiment succeeded, but as Team Rocket only treated the Legendary Pokémon as a tool, it grew disgusted and broke free from its creators. Believing humanity to be a curse upon the world, Mewtwo sets out to destroy them and any Pokémon who acted as their allies.
Mewtwo's plan would lead to a terrible display of violence between the Pokémon of captured Trainers and the clones based off of them. In the meantime, Mewtwo would battle against Mew, who was trying to make its enhanced clone see the error of its ways. Throughout the media, Mewtwo is famous for its intense powers and bloodthirsty behavior, born out of a past without love. An alternate version of Mewtwo also appears in Pokémon Origins, where it is able to defeat all of Red's Pokémon except for his Mega Charizard X.
Arceus Acts as the Deity of the Pokemon World
A Wise Being Knows Never To Anger the Alpha Pokémon
A key figure throughout the Pokémon narrative, but especially Sinnoh's, Arceus is the grand deity of the franchise's universe. According to legend, Arceus was the one to create the Pokémon universe itself. The Alpha Pokémon also created the lake guardians as well as the three Pokémon of myth; the Normal-type was also the one to imprison Giratina for its crimes. Arceus' powers are boundless and enough to entirely re-shape the universe or destroy it, and as such, one should never make an enemy out of the Alpha Pokémon.
Unfortunately, such an event occurs during the events of Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life. After it is seemingly betrayed by humanity, Arceus unleashes a fatal display of power before it slumbers for eons, awakening once more in the modern day. As the movie showcases, simply fighting Arceus is not an option, because of how devastating its abilities are. Thus, the heroes must work with Dialga in order to travel back to the past in hopes that they can prevent the disaster from even happening in the first place.
