Street Fighter 6 has maintained its standing as one of the best and most popular fighting games of this gaming generation. One of the most critically acclaimed titles upon its release in 2023, Street Fighter 6 has also sold over 4 million copies over the last two years and continued to establish Street Fighter as one of the premiere fighting games on the market. That success should continue in the future, especially as the game has just been announced for a release on the Nintendo Switch 2 at the new system’s launch.
Street Fighter 6 has also helped maintain its success thanks to the consistent release of downloadable content. The game has currently received two downloadable “seasons” featuring new playable fighters, and it appears the lineup for Season 3 has recently leaked. Should this leaked lineup be accurate, it appears that Season 3 will be a little less exciting than what Season 2 came through with.
Street Fighter 6's Ace Attorney Collaboration is Only a Half Measure
The recent Ace Attorney crossover event that Capcom held in Street Fighter 6 felt like a fraction of what it could have been.

Street Fighter 6’s Rumored Season 3 Lineup Seems Lighter
Currently, the rumored lineup of Season 3 DLC in Street Fighter 6 includes Sagat, Alex, C. Viper, and Ingrid. Both Sagat and Alex were part of the downloadable roster of characters in Street Fighter 5, with Alex being part of Season 1’s DLC and Sagat being part of Season 3’s DLC. C. Viper and Ingrid, however, were not playable characters in Street Fighter 5, with C. Viper appearing in character stories and Ingrid appearing in unlockable artwork.
Adding these four characters to the roster would move the game’s lineup of playable characters from 25 to 29. Ingrid’s appearance would be perhaps the most notable of the bunch, given that she is largely seen as more of a “guest character” in Capcom’s eyes than a proper “Street Fighter” character. Following the cancelation of Capcom Fighting All-Stars - which was set to be her first appearance - she proceeded to debut in Capcom Fighting Evolution before making her only playable Street Fighter appearance in Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max.
Street Fighter 6 Season 3 Won’t Have Major Collaborations
While it will be nice to have some of these characters back, Street Fighter 6’s Season 3 DLC will look a bit lighter in comparison to Season 2’s cast. Previously, Season 2 offered some noteworthy collaborative characters with the additions of Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui from Fatal Fury. This was a noteworthy surprise for the Street Fighter franchise, one that never previously had guest characters outside of Capcom-published franchises like Rival Schools and Final Fight.
Now that these characters have broken down the wall of guest character appearances and raised the bar, it’s natural to expect the granddaddy of fighting games to feature more crossovers with other franchises. After all, one of its most notable contemporaries, Mortal Kombat, has been adding major crossovers with non-gaming media, and the Super Smash Bros. Franchise (which features Street Fighter characters) has shattered many pre-established conventions regarding crossovers in gaming. Furthermore, one of Street Fighter 6’s producers, Shuhei Matsumoto, even indicated that the team would like to see more collaborative opportunities.

Capcom Has Been Quiet On Street Fighter 6 Season 3’s Leak
As it is, it seems that Capcom may not have many more exciting guests for Street Fighter 6 at the moment. It is rather challenging to add guest characters to a fighting game when working with other publishers, so Terry and Mai’s appearances may have simply been the publisher’s way of cracking the door open. Instead, it feels like Season 3’s DLC will be earmarking Ingrid’s return as the big surprise of this new set of content.
Of course, all of this information should be taken with a grain of salt. Capcom has not announced anything specific regarding Season 3’s of Street Fighter 6’s DLC - nor does the publisher comment on leaks - so fans will not know how correct these leaks are until the proper announcement is made. Nevertheless, should these rumors be true, expect Street Fighter 6’s Season 3 DLC to be solid, but noticeably lighter than what Season 2 came through with.
