  • Street Fighter 6 has announced the new Rival Schools Gala Fighting Pass, scheduled to release on April 1.
  • The pass includes avatar cosmetics, stickers, photo frames, and new music.
  • The Rival Schools Gala Fighting Pass will be available for around three weeks.

Capcom has announced a brand new Street Fighter 6 fighting pass inspired by the company's somewhat lesser-known fighting franchise, Rival Schools. Like the passes before it, this new Rival Schools Fighting Pass brings with it several new rewards and unlockables, as well as a few cosmetics. This new Fighting Pass comes ahead of Elena's highly anticipated debut in Street Fighter 6, with several more updates likely on the horizon for 2025.

Released in the summer of 2023, Street Fighter 6 was both a return to form and the start of a brand-new chapter for Capcom's legendary 2D fighting series, with the game receiving a steady stream of content updates since. From new characters to gameplay tweaks, the Street Fighter 6 experience has changed a lot since its release. Street Fighter 6 also features numerous Fighting Passes, allowing players to progress through limited-time events for special rewards. The latest pass brings back Capcom's Rival Schools franchise, an unexpected but likely exciting update for longtime fans.

As the name suggests, Street Fighter 6's new Rival Schools Gala Fighting Pass brings Capcom's less mainstream fighting franchise back to the frontlines. In the new pass, players will find several new avatar cosmetics, including Akira Kazama's iconic motorcycle helmet. New stickers and photo frames are also included, as is standard with most of Street Fighter 6's previous fighting passes. New music has also been added, with the classic game of the month being Warriors of Fate this time around. Players can expect this new pass to last around three weeks, and it will become available on April 1 following Street Fighter 6's server maintenance.

Street Fighter 6 Reveals Rival Schools Gala Fighting Pass

This new pass makes sense when considering Project Justice, the sequel to the original Rival Schools, is a big part of Capcom Fighting Collection 2, which releases this May. However, the new pass may come as a disappointment to those eagerly awaiting the arrival of Street Fighter 6's newest character, Elena. Today's new update was theorized by some to be an Elena fighting pass. Obviously, this isn't the case, with the fighter set to be released sometime this summer after this new Rival Schools event is over.

Capcom recently found itself in some controversy over the way it's handled post-launch content for Street Fighter 6, specifically the game's cosmetics, so it will be interesting to see how players feel about the game's new Rival Schools event. Earlier this year, concern grew over the lack of character costumes in Street Fighter 6, with Capcom seemingly focusing more on avatar items. Rosters have always been key when it comes to fighting games, and Street Fighter 6 is no different, though there's likely plenty more content on the way. The game launched with a total of 18 characters, and if Street Fighter 5 is anything to go off of, Street Fighter 6 could end its run with dozens.
