Street Fighter 6 saw a successful release in June 2023 and has been on a roll since then. The game treated players to four new DLC characters, a batch of great outfits for the main cast, and even cosmetic collaborations with other franchises. This April 2024, SF6 joins the festivities of the 20th anniversary of another Capcom classic: Monster Hunter. This event comes with a bunch of premium rewards, in-game photo ops, and a voter event.

The Street Fighter 6 team has been busy getting new and old players into the game with various crossovers with other Capcom games like Exoprimal. It even had events with anime and comic book titles like SPYxFAMILY and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. These collaborations usually involve BattleHub avatar skins based on the series’ most memorable characters and outfits, and the current Monster Hunter 20th Anniversary event is no different.

The SF6: Monster Hunter 20th Anniversary Collaboration Brings Rathalos Armor to the BattleHub

Avid fans of both Capcom franchises are in for a treat, as Monster Hunter’s iconic Rathalos Armor will be available for Battle Hub avatars. The set includes a helmet, mail, coil, and greaves. Players can unlock these items when they buy the premium Fighting Pass for this season, which will be valid until April 22, 2024. Other MH-themed goodies in this battle pass include:

  • Felyne head costume
  • “Happy Hunting” frame, which adds a Monster Hunter-style HUD to photos
  • “Hunter Dance” emote
  • MH-themed titles, device wallpaper, and stickers

The Fighting Pass will also include premium rewards from previous SF games, like music from Street Fighter 3: 2nd Impact and even a classic game called Magic Sword.

The Street Fighter 6 x Monster Hunter Collab Lets Players Bring Huge Swords to Fist Fights

It’s only right for every Monster Hunter to introduce gargantuan weapons into the games they cross over with. Even Street Fighter 6, a fighting game that mostly involves hand-to-hand combat, is no exception to this. SF6 players can crush their World Tour enemies in style with an assortment of Monster Hunter-themed weapons, with the most iconic one being the Frozen Speartuna Great Sword, which looks exactly how it sounds.

Players can also deck out their characters with an assortment of Lances, Longswords, Shields, and Hammers. Street Fighter 6 makes placement fully customizable for these weapons, so fans can go ham on dual-wielding an Axe and Great Sword or go for a more understated look with the weapons sheathed. Players can buy these cosmetics using Drive Tickets or Fighter Coins from the Hub Goods Shop.

How Players Can Enjoy the SF6 x Monster Hunter Crossover Players for Free

There are different ways to join this event without spending a dime. Players can take photo-ops of their avatars with Rathalos and Rathian in the Battle Hub during the collab period. There’s also a voting event where players can select their favorite MH weapon type. Voters get 2,000 Drive Tickets for participating. They can then use their earnings, along with the Drive Tickets they’ve earned from daily, weekly, and monthly challenges to get a themed weapon skin or two. The best free reward for this event is the Wyvern Jawblade. Players can acquire this epic Great Sword by simply watching the Fighting Ground tutorial during the collaboration period.

Some players are upset with the lack of actual outfits for the main cast of characters. Fans enjoyed the Rathalos Ken skin from Street Fighter 5, and the outfit was unfortunately absent from this SF6 x MH collaboration. It’s a missed opportunity, especially now that the character’s fire-themed moves look more prominent in this game compared to the previous ones. It seems that these collaborations cater to those who like grinding Street Fighter 6's World Tour mode and customizing their characters in the Battle Hub.
