Capcom has revealed its third post-launch DLC fighter for Street Fighter 6, Ed, set to make his arrival sometime in February. Street Fighter 6 has received exceptionally high praise from the fighting game community after its hugely successful June 2023 launch. The title, which incorporated its first-ever RPG-style single-player World Tour mode, went on to win Best Fighting Game at the 2023 Game Awards over its fierce rival, Mortal Kombat 1.

Since its launch, Street Fighter 6 fans have been enjoying its wealth of post-launch content, including two new DLC fighters. Rashid, a returning Street Fighter character, arrived in July, just over a month after the game's launch. Later on, in September 2023, the all-new poison-based fighter named A.K.I made her Street Fighter debut as well. With two DLC fighters still set to come in Street Fighter 6's Year 1 Character Pass, fans have been eagerly awaiting the reveal of Ed, as it's been several months since A.K.I's arrival.

Capcom has finally gone ahead and unveiled Ed for Street Fighter 6 with a 90-second action trailer. Set in Metro City's underground subway, which served as a grinding arena in the game's single-player World Tour mode, the trailer showcases Ed's stylish Leon Kennedy-esque appearance as well as some of his moves. Near the end of the fight, Ed uses a Psyco-Powerd ability to suspend a foe in the air and toss him with purple tendrils.

Ed made his Street Fighter debut as a DLC fighter for the franchise's fifth mainline installment. Part of the dreaded Shadaloo organization under iconic franchise villain M. Bison, Ed joins Street Fighter 6's new villain, JP, as the game's second Psycho Power wielder. Even though Street Fighter 6 omitted Bison from the roster to the dismay of fans, it's nice to see related characters in JP and Ed, who still let players utilize the franchise's iconic Psycho abilities.

Akuma is the fourth and final Year 1 DLC character, set to come to Street Fighter 6 in Spring 2024. Judging by the release pattern of Rashid, A.K.I, and now Ed, there's a notable four-month gap between the latter two, but only one month separated Rashid and A.K.I. With that in mind, franchise favorite Akuma could make his landing in April or May, as another four months from February would put him in June, missing his spring window.

When Can Street Fighter 6 Fans Expect Ed To Release?

Strangely, no solid release date has been given for Ed's arrival in Street Fighter 6, though fans should expect it soon, as February is right around the corner. Fans should also keep an eye out for Akuma's full Street Fighter 6 reveal in the coming months. Perhaps Capcom also has plans for a Year 2 character pass, though nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
