Summer Game Fest reveals the second year of DLC characters for Street Fighter 6, which brings back a fan favorite, a classic villain, and two guest characters from SNK's Fatal Fury franchise. It's been a whirlwind year for Capcom's Street Fighter 6, a game which has seemingly managed to restore the fan's faith in the franchise after the rocky start that impacted the previous game.

In fact, Street Fighter 6 has just released Akuma, a highly popular character from past games, which also ended the first year of planned content. Capcom has continued to tease more content, but in the meantime, the developer has laid out plans to celebrate Street Fighter 6's first anniversary with a new fighting pass, new events, and items for purchase. However, fans finally got the news they've been waiting for as Capcom fully revealed the four new characters arriving in year 2.

During Geoff Keighley's annual Summer Game Fest event, Capcom released a new animated trailer showcasing Luke and Jaime playing a game. However, as they're playing, a character walks up to them and before long, it is revealed to be none other than Terry Bogard from SNK's Fatal Fury and King of Fighters series. However, Terry is also joined by Mai Shiranui as another popular SNK character making the jump to Street Fighter 6. Year two also rounds out the DLC cast with Street Fighter 3's Elena, as well as the return of the iconic villain M. Bison, who appears to be a bit more disheveled than fans may remember.

When Are Street FIghter 6 Year 2 Characters Releasing?

In addition to the trailer reveal, Capcom provided a bit more information as to when each of these characters would be available, including Mai and Terry, the first guest characters that the mainline Street Fighter games have had. In fact, fans won't have to wait too much longer as classic Street Fighter villain M. Bison is launching first this Summer.

  • M. Bison - Summer 2024
  • Terry - Autumn 2024
  • Mai - Winter 2025
  • Elena - Spring 2025

It'll be interesting to see how Bison fits into the current meta, especially since Street Fighter 6 received a fairly big balance patch at the start of Season 2. Not only were certain characters adjusted, but Capcom also made changes to some fighting mechanics in general like giving all characters a Drive Reversal on their wake-up recovery. Input recognition was adjusted along with parrying, and every character on the current roster was adjusted in some capacity outside the just released Akuma. For now, players will need to continue testing to see how the newly balanced roster of Street Fighter 6 pans out, with some of the weaker characters getting a few much needed buffs.
