Street Fighter 6 is one of the most highly anticipated releases from Capcom in 2023. This is the sixth numbered mainline entry in the long-running franchise, looking to improve many things from the previous game. Early previews of Street Fighter 6 impressed a lot of fans and critics, along with the announcement of heavily requested features such as rollback netcode and crossplay between consoles and PC. It will also feature redesigned returning characters from the series, as well as a set of new characters to play as.
Some of these returning characters for Street Fighter 6 includes series staples like Ryu, Chun-Li, and Guile. Luke, who was introduced in the last season of Street Fighter 5's DLC, will be featured in a primary role of this game's World Tour mode, alongside a new character known as Jamie who has a drunken break dancing style. The regulars all have new designs that reflect how much time has passed since the last game, such as Ryu growing a beard and getting a new gi, or Chun-Li having a new set of threads. Capcom has now revealed a number of alternate costumes for the roster for each of the characters introduced so far.
Capcom first revealed the costumes for the veterans who are coming back for Street Fighter 6, giving these characters their iconic classic looks from the series. Chun-Li's classic qipao is an alternate costume, including her spiky wristbands as opposed to her more graceful and golden bands in 6. Ryu goes clean-shaven, wearing his white iconic martial arts gi. Guile's uniform from Street Fighter 2 will also be an alternate costume, where he's also shaved his stubble.
Luke and Jamie will also be getting a set of alternate costumes, with Luke getting a completely new outfit. Luke dons a new tan camouflage jacket, along with a set of ripped jeans and leg strapped pack. He also adds some blue streaks into his hair, while adding a pair of shoes to his feet. Jamie also gets a stylish new outfit, giving him a puffy yellow jacket, red shoes, and a pair of black sweats, complimenting his break dancing fighting style.
With all these characters getting these new classic or new looks, it's likely more costumes will come in the future. Some of the returning characters in the leaked roster of Street Fighter 6 will likely be getting the same treatment and be getting a costume based on their classic appearance. These costumes should be good for players who want to play a certain character but dislike their redesigns, or offer an alternate option for the new characters.
Street Fighter 6 releases in 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
