A brand-new trailer showcasing a Stranger Things prequel has been released into the wild, and while fans eagerly anticipate the arrival of the Netflix show’s season 5, the community isn’t pleased with the project’s streaming arrangements. Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things first premiered in 2016 and introduced science-fiction fans to the fictional world of Hawkins, Indiana, set in the 1980s. Starring Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, et al, the premise revolves around a human experimentation facility that opens the Upside Down alternate dimension.
After much anticipation, the Stranger Things season 5 trailer painted a worrying picture for one character, as fans hope their favorite Hawkins kid survives the final stand. There’s not a long wait between now and the final outing’s November premiere. However, the last run will be split into parts to keep the fandom on tenterhooks. Three volumes are mapped out for season 5, with the first airing four episodes, the second offering three, and the last delivering the finale to bring the epic adventure to an end.
‘Not Even Close to Accurate’ Stranger Things Creator Disappoints Fans by Debunking Major Season 5 Leak
Four months away from season 5’s debut, Stranger Things showrunner Ross Duffer sets the record straight about one major rumor.
Stranger Things Fans Disappointed The First Shadow Stage Play Won't Be Streaming on Netflix
The trailer for Stranger Things: The First Shadow welcomes the stage play to Broadway this season, offering fans the chance to book their tickets now for the most Tony award-winning play of the year. Stranger Things: The First Shadow was announced back in 2023 as a prequel stage play showcasing at London’s West End. Taking fans back to “before the world turned upside down,” the play is set in 1959 and features new student Henry Creel, alongside a young Jim Hopper and Joyce Maldonado. Since The First Shadow is a part of one of the most popular pop culture IPs, fans have a bone to pick with the creators after watching the trailer.
Despite the first run of the play debuting back in 2023, fans are wondering if The First Shadow is essential viewing before season 5, since the story will presumably wrap Henry’s story, and most are angered by the fact that it won’t be available to watch on streaming. One YouTuber made the point of saying 99% of the world’s fans will unfortunately not get to see the contents of the stage play because of the location it’s being shown in. Another chimed in, saying the creators likely don’t want to undermine the arrival of season 5 by putting it on Netflix, but some fans consider the narrative of the stage play to be vital viewing before the show's conclusion.
During the Netflix show’s hiatus between season 4’s cliffhanger and season 5’s marketing, the Stranger Things writers denied an Eleven spin-off was in the works. Considering the resounding success of the series, and the existence of The First Shadow, it’s not a stretch to assume the creators could be brainstorming spin-offs to explore the IP further once the parent show concludes this year. Furthermore, other spin-offs have been rumored to already be in production, including the anime Stranger Things: Tokyo, which appears to have taken a backseat for the time being.
