Countless fans across the world are waiting with bated breath for Stranger Things season 5's release, and even though it will mark the end of the iconic supernatural Netflix series, viewers can't wait to see the unlikely heroes unite again in a bid to finally find and kill Vecna. Although it's still a few months away, season 5 has already broken a massive record for the streaming platform in its entire history.

Created by Matt and Ross Duffer, Stranger Things tells the story of Millie Bobby Brown's Eleven and her friends in Hawkins, Indiana, as they take on the sinister forces of the Upside Down. Netflix announced that production wrapped on Stranger Things season 5 in late December 2024, with the Duffer brothers revealing that they are ahead of schedule, which was a massive relief for impatient fans. Even though it was initially rumored that Netflix rejected the idea that the series would release in three parts, this turned out to be false, with the show officially revealing that it would indeed release on 3 separate dates towards the end of the year. Now, nine years after it welcomed viewers into its horror-infested world in 2016, fans will finally see how Stranger Things' very last season will pan out for its beloved main characters.

Stranger Things season 4

Only recently, the hit Netflix miniseries Adolescence knocked Stranger Things season 4 off the top spot on the charts, taking it from its number one position to number two, leaving Wednesday still guarding the streaming platform's top position. However, in a cool twist of lucky fate for the series starring Millie-Bobby Brown as Eleven, Stranger Things season 5's release date announcement video has had over 250 million impressions across all social media channels, making it the most impressions for any announcement video in Netflix history, according to Variety.

Stranger Things season 5's release date schedule was revealed during Netflix’s annual Tudum event, which was held live at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on May 31 and uncovered that the fifth and final season of the huge hit series will debut in three parts, with the first four episodes landing on November 26, the next three dropping on December 25 and its final farewell episode premiering on December 31. The amazing response to Stranger Things Season 5's announcement is the most recent in the show's high-achieving history of record-breaking, as season 4 became the most-watched English-language show in the streaming platform's history and is currently the third-most-watched English-language series on Netflix.

For season 5 of Stranger Things, it was reported that director Shawn Levy won't be involved in as many episodes in Stranger Things season 5 as he has been in the series' previous installments, and instead, Frank Darabont will take the director's chair on episode 3, with episode 4, titled "Sorcerer," directed by the Duffer Brothers.

Stranger Things' final season is set to debut on Netflix on November 26.
