The cast of Stranger Things is in for a big payday. If these reports are to be believed, then certain cast members could make nearly $10 million for the final season.
Stranger Things has been one of Netflix's most lucrative endeavours. Since its debut in 2016, countless viewers have tuned in to watch the '80s nostalgia fest. Stranger Things holds many records at Netflix, and it has drawn critical acclaim for its storytelling and the stellar performances of its cast. The series will be ending with its fifth and final season, which will likely air sometime in 2024.
According to a report by Puck, the payment system for the final Stranger Things season will be split into four "tiers." Tier 1 includes the main adult leads of the series, David Harbour and Winona Ryder, who will make $9.5 million each. Tier 2 consists of the younger cast members Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, and Finn Wolfhard. Tier 2 cast members will make over $7 million for the season. Tier 3 consists of the cast members portraying the older teens, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Maya Hawke, and Joe Keery. They will be making over $6 million for the season. Tier 4 consists of every other cast member, and this tier will make much less than the others for their appearances.
Except for Sink and Hawke, every cast member on the list has been around since Day 1 of the series. Millie Bobby Brown is not included in the list because she has a separate exclusive deal with Netflix. The final season promises to be an emotional affair, and the writers said the executives cried during the final Stranger Things pitch meeting.
Little else is known about the season. Schnapp has previously stated that his character, Will Byers, will be central to the final season. Sink has said she does not know where Max will be headed in the final season, and the writers have claimed they won't be adding any new characters to the cast. Harbour has called Stranger Things season 5 a home run.
There is currently no release date for the fifth season, and fans may have to wait a bit longer for things to kick off. Although Harbor revealed filming for Stranger Things season 5 begins this year, it is unknown when that will be.
Stranger Things season 1-4 are now available on Netflix.
