In Stranded Deep, the player is forced to think about everything from the basics like getting water to limiting their exposure to sun to prevent sunburn. That said, something as simple as finding drinkable water can be extremely difficult in the game, especially if the player has no way to store or save what little water they find.

The coconut flask isn't particularly difficult to craft by any means, but it will drastically expand the player's ability to travel away from water supplies. That said, there are numerous upgrades later on which do better, but this is a great first step.

Stranded Deep - How to Craft a Coconut Flask

The materials required to create a coconut flask are simple, just acquire one coconut and create one lashing and the two can be crafted together. In order to craft it, the player will need to open the crafting menu and navigate over to the consumables menu, this is the same area where things like antidotes to cure poison can be found. It is also important that the player doesn't break open or cut the coconut in any way, as for this recipe to work the coconut must be in its initial unopened state.

After crafting the coconut flask, it will already contain one drink of water in it. The important thing here is that this water will not spoil and can be carried around with the player. After drinking it, it can be refilled at any clean water source such as a water still. In this way, the player is able to carry water with them on their travels and store water as well. As was previously mentioned, eventually the player will gain access to leather waterskins and clay water bottles which can carry three and five drinks respectively, but the ease of crafting a coconut flask makes it well worth it.

Coconut flasks can also be used to water crops, which will aid the player in creating a sustainable food supply for themselves. Until players get used to the controls of Stranded Deep  and manage to craft better water storage items, the coconut flask should prove incredibly useful.
